English: Printed caption on verso: "No. 69913 The First Canadian Pacific R.R. and Geological Survey parties for British Columbia, July 22nd 1871." This photograph was taken of the Geological Survey of Canada and Canadian Pacific rail road survey parties during their 1871 expedition to British Columbia, led by A.R.C. Selwyn (in pale coat, seated at centre) Director of the GSC. From left to right, the subjects are: L. N. Rheaumis; Roderick McLennan; A. S. Hall; W. W. Ireland; Alfred R.C. Selwyn; Alex Maclennan; Walter Moberly; C. E. Gilette; James Richardson; McDonald (unknown given name); George Watt.
