QW2021 mass mailing template

It looks like you've mailed out a lot of the QW2021 notices. I'm looking for the template that is responsible for this. Normally, templates that are substed onto a page contain their own name inside a hidden Html comment for transparency, but this one doesn't. Can you point me to it, please? DYK for Museum of French Art

On 31 May 2021, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Museum of French Art, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the Museum of French Art once exhibited Napoleon's penis? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Museum of French Art. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Museum of French Art), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Sixth borough

Hi, Pharos. Long time no see. Hope you're doing well. I noticed you made some additions to Sixth borough, some of which was indeed supported by the cited New York Times article (like the "Lower Lower Manhattan" bit), but the mention of T. Kennard Thomson was not, so I reverted it. I tried searching through that NYT article, and couldn't find mention of him, nor was he mentioned anywhere else in the Wikipedia article. possible identity theft?

@Pharos: I was unable to log into WikiConference:2021/Main Page as User:DavidMCEddy a few minutes ago. I've been "User:DavidMCEddy" since 2010-03-26 in many Wikimedia Foundation projects. I tried to reset my password for WikiConference:User:DavidMCEddy and couldn't. So I registered WikiConference:User:LauraEckenberg. It accepted that.

I'm writing you, because if someone else is actually using WikiConference:User:DavidMCEddy, I would consider it identity theft. It's probably just something silly in the User ID management in WikiConference North America. However, I felt a need to ask about it.

Thanks for all you do to try to increase access to the sum of all human knowledge. DavidMCEddy (talk) 17:58, 5 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

What is the deadline for submitting proposals for Presentations, Panels, Workshops, or Round Tables at WikiConference North America 2021? Thanks, DavidMCEddy (talk) 19:18, 5 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The system would not let me vote

Per your request, "This is the last day to vote", I reviewed and ranked the 72 candidates I found with statement. In trying to enter my ranks, I could not find some of the candidates on the list. After ranking roughly half of them, I tried to submit my votes. It said I had to log in to vote. I tried to log in using my usual login. It did not accept that. Then it said, "You do not need to be logged in to vote."

If the number of votes seem reasonable and there are few complaints like this, please ignore. Otherwise, I will testify that (a) the voting system was very hard to use, and (b) it seemed not to accept my vote. DavidMCEddy (talk) 01:33, 25 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2021 Elections voter message

Hello! Voting in the 2021 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 6 December 2021. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2021 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:05, 23 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Administrators will no longer be autopatrolled

A recently closed Request for Comment (RFC) reached consensus to remove Autopatrolled from the administrator user group. You may, similarly as with Edit Filter Manager, choose to self-assign this permission to yourself. This will be implemented the week of December 13th, but if you wish to self-assign you may do so now. To find out when the change has gone live or if you have any questions please visit the Administrator's Noticeboard. 20:06, 7 December 2021 (UTC)

How we will see unregistered users

Hi!

You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.

When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.

Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.

If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.

We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.

Thank you. /Johan (WMF)

I think you created this article that I wanted to propose for deletion. Of course, I'm open minded to alternative opinions and will remove the proposed deletion if there is not consensus. What do you think?

You might also notice I deleted some weak newer citations that were added since you created the article some years ago.

Wikimedia NYC: Strategic Planning Survey for our community
Welcome to Wikimedia New York City!

Hi Wiki-Yorkers,

We are reaching out as part of our community-building efforts at Wikimedia NYC. Our regional group is engaged in a strategic planning process to sharpen our strategy for the next three years, and we would like your input. Given your connection to us and your experience with Wikimedia NYC, I would be grateful if you would be willing to share some of your perspectives and insights as we think about our next chapter.

Attached is an anonymous survey, which will remain active until February 28. Responses will go directly to Barretto Consulting and the Wikimedia NYC board will receive responses in aggregate and to identify cross-cutting themes. Please take some time to answer it and share your thoughts with us.

Fill out our Wikimedia NYC survey!

Thank you so much. We appreciate all your ideas and community spirit.

We also hope for the participation of our friends from the Free Culture movement and from educational and cultural institutions interested in developing free knowledge projects. We will also follow up on plans for recent and upcoming editathons, and other outreach activities.

After the main meeting, pizza and refreshments and video games in the gallery!

7:00pm - 9:00 pm at Babycastles, 137 West 14th Street

Featuring a keynote talk this month to be determined! We especially encourage folks to add your 5-minute lightning talks to our roster, and otherwise join in the "open space" experience! Newcomers are very welcome! Bring your friends and colleagues! --Pharos (talk) 05:45, 28 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

You've been whacked with a wet trout.

Don't take this too seriously. Someone just wants to let you know that you did something silly.
