In drastic need of a little TLC!

[edit]

This page needs a total re-vamp! More images, less blocky paragraphs and section containing just a measly link! I'll try, but seriously, let's re-vamp this article! Johnnywalterboy (talk) 21:08, 19 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

That Couldn't be True!

[edit]

Under "The Sims 3" "It is believed to be set 5 years before the original game,"

That can't be true because there's a new furniture peice that's a statue of Bella Goth honoring her lost memory! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.99.117.200 (talk) 15:18, 15 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You notice Mortimer Goth is a child? 216.136.4.136 (talk) 14:38, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

In The Sims, the original game, Mortimer is somewhat in the 'young adult' age status by Sims 3 standards. Gunther and Cornelia are still alive, Cassandra is a child. In The Sims 3, Mortimer is a child having five sim days left to age, the same goes for Bella. Whereas in Sims 2, Mortimer is of the elder status and Cassandra is an adult, her little brother Alexander is a child. It is also mentioned in the Sims 2 that it has been over 20 years since Sims 1. By the facts mentioned, we can only presume that the Sims 3 has to be over 20 years before the Sims1. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 119.153.45.243 (talk) 11:23, 16 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sims 4?

[edit]

I think we should remove "The Sims 4" section cause in my opinion, Twitter posts are not reliable even if a news site posted an article about it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.21.122.234 (talk) 23:47, 13 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Need for speed spin-off?

[edit]

Could someone throw some references for that info? "Need for speed" appears as an spin-off in the infobox, but it is not mentioned in the rest of the article, nor is the Sims mentioned in Need for Speed. --213.97.221.17 (talk) 17:45, 28 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No references needed as NFS is a separate franchise from The Sims, so I have taken that out of the infobox.   ArcAngel   (talk) ) 20:18, 28 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

vandalism

[edit]

I found some vandalism in the sims 3 section, saying "b***h this is all a lie". I tried to edit it, but I could not find it anywhere in the editing page. Could someone erase that? Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 116.86.201.19 (talk) 09:19, 29 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Stanislaw Lem

[edit]

According to this webpage, The Sims was inspired by a work of the Polish writer Stanislaw Lem. Can this be verified through any other source? --BorgQueen (talk) 17:57, 19 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Actually it was SimCity that was inspired by Stanislaw Lem's story "The Seventh Sally" in his delightful collection of short stories, The Cyberiad.

(see Making City Planning a Game)

My guess is that is the person who wrote that web page meant to say SimCity, since SimCity and The Sims are sometimes confused.
It's impossible to prove a negative that The Sims wasn't inspired by Lem, and it's certainly true in the general sense that he directly inspired SimCity which directly led to The Sims and The Sims shared a lot of the same inspiration as SimCity.
But as someone who actually worked on The Sims 1 team and contributed to the design, it's my opinion The Sims was more inspired by Philip K Dick's book The Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch (think Perky Pat layouts), and Scott McCloud's book Understanding Comics (think graphical storytelling, abstraction, masking, and identifying with characters).

Missing games

[edit]

Where is Sim Animals And SimAnimal Africa — Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.98.167.114 (talk) 15:00, 10 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Those are "Sim" games, but they're not in the same series as "The Sims," so they're not included here. --ThomasO1989 (talk) 17:24, 10 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Sims 4 section removal and re-added content

[edit]

I was going to add this to the Sims 4 note above but discovered it was from 2010. Anyways, the section on Sims 4 was removed and then added back. But looking at the section, I really don't understand why it is there. It really presents very little information and what is there is speculative. The entry is more gossip sheet than actual Encyclopedic style information. Frankly I'm for either removing it or pairing it down to the couple of limited facts that are available at best. BcRIPster (talk) 20:35, 4 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Probably should just cut down to all factual. —Mythdon (talk contribs) 21:06, 4 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hall of Fame

[edit]

The Sims was inducted into the 2016 World Video Game Hall of Fame, for what that's worth: http://www.museumofplay.org/press/releases/2016/05/2688-2016-world-video-game-hall-fame-inductees-announced Xardox (talk) 01:40, 8 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Sharia edition

[edit]

What about "full sharia" edition for verification of that system of rules?

The Sims Spark'd article draft

[edit]

Hello, I've been working on a new article draft at Draft:The Sims Spark'd to go as a main article for the competition in the "Reality television show" section. This is the first article I've written from scratch, and I'd love some feedback on it. It's obviously still a stub-level article, but I think that having challenge information in that article is better than putting in this article. Reader781 (talk) 03:37, 10 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
