NEOS – The New Austria and Liberal Forum → NEOS (Austria) – Here on English Wikipedia we use the name that is most commonly used by independent, reliable, English-language sources. We do not have to use the full/official/legal names, or include taglines/slogans or use literal translations of foreign language names. Independent, reliable, English language sources are more likely to use NEOS than NEOS – The New Austria and Liberal Forum. The party calls itself "NEOS". - Support I strongly agree with the idea of the move. Zlad! (talk) 20:50, 28 September 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose – keep the established name as per WP:NCDAB re: natural disambiguation, among other issues.— Autospark (talk) 22:00, 28 September 2024 (UTC)
- Support - as per nom DotCoder (talk) 11:00, 29 September 2024 (UTC)
- Support: Taglines should not be included in Wikipedia article titles. Even when organizations make them part of their "official name", they would not become part of a truly common name. The logo and party flag show the common name in large font. — BarrelProof (talk) 14:46, 29 September 2024 (UTC)
- Support as nominated. A redirect from the old article title will be left behind, but arguably it is pretty unlikely to be a search term as it stands, so the proposed dab title should be more common. Raladic (talk) 05:54, 30 September 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose — I would love to have a shorter name, but surely that cannot be its acronym, otherwise all articles on parties would be named with their acronyms since most of them are much more well-know than full names (think of CDU, SPD, PS, PSD, LibDems, SNP, NDP, FdI, PD, BJP, INC, etc.). --Checco (talk) 13:34, 30 September 2024 (UTC)
- NEOS isn’t an acronym, it’s their full party name and derived from Greek meaning “new”. The current tagline after it is a tagline.
- Is is their full party name, as opposed to the various party acronyms which you have listed, which are acronyms. Raladic (talk) 16:00, 30 September 2024 (UTC)
- Uhm, so and so. As far as I know, NEOS comes from NEue ÖSterreich. Anyway, I still prefer the full name. --Checco (talk) 19:12, 30 September 2024 (UTC)
- @Checco: WP:NCPARTY does allow acronyms to be used as titles when they "are far more commonly used than full names in international news media". I'm sure NEOS is used far more commonly than Neue Österreich.--Obi2canibe (talk) 18:04, 1 October 2024 (UTC)
