User:LB22/Archive Talk 1
Welcome to my first archive page. Here you can see my old conversations for fact-finders and quoters! However, to post something to me, please do so on my current talk page! I will not recieve it here!
Welcome!
[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia, LB22! I am Thehelpfulone and have been editing Wikipedia for quite some time. I just wanted to say hi and welcome you to Wikipedia! If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page or by typing {{helpme}} at the bottom of this page. I love to help new users, so don't be afraid to leave a message! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:
- Introduction
- The five pillars of Wikipedia
- How to edit a page
- Help pages
- How to write a great article
- Manual of Style
I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Oh yeah, I almost forgot, when you post on talk pages you should sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); that should automatically produce your username and the date after your post. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and ask your question there. Again, welcome!

HI
[edit]Hi! I am LB22 and I have just joined Wikipedia. I would like to know what sort of things I can do to improve the site. Please bear in mind my stronger subjects! LB22 20:30, 8 November 2007 (UTC)
Adoption
[edit]Hello LB22, welcome to Wikipedia! I see you want to be adopted? That's what I am here for. I have 9 months of experience here, and if you like I can adopt you! You can reply on my talk page. Have a great day. Macy's123 (review me) 00:40, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
- Of course you can steal my code as long as you credit me, if you don't mind! Also, just a little message to inform you that I've created the Adoptee classroom. Here you will receive some instructions that can help you. Have a great day! Macy's123 (review me) 21:39, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
Adoption lesson
[edit]Hello LB22, before you start the first lesson, I suggest you read Wikipedia:How to edit a page, and create your first article! After you finish with that, please let me know. Macy's123 (review me) 21:57, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
- I've checked your contributions, and, I think that you need to contribute a little more on the Article namespace. For now, let's work on the next lesson: communicate with others! This lesson is one of the most important, because, every user needs to communicate with others. When communicating with others, remember to be be civil with others. To leave a message on a talk page (I think you already know this), click the + symbol on the navigation bar. Also, do not make personal attacks anywhere in Wikipedia. Also, I am working in a new lesson for you! Remember to visit the Adoptee classroom. Macy's123 (review me) 15:14, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
Adoption lesson
[edit]Hello, LB22. This is your next lesson, and after this one, I will have an assignment for you! Today's lesson is: Vandalism.
Vandalism is any addition, removal, or change of content made in a deliberate attempt to compromise the integrity of Wikipedia. The most common types of vandalism include the addition of obscenities or crude humor, page blanking, or the insertion of nonsense into articles.
You can learn more here! Also, they are many tools to fight vandalism, like VandalProof, Twinkle, Lupin's Anti-Vandal tool, and many more! I'll tell you how to use some of them. Have a great day! Macy's123 (review me) 21:35, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
- Let's start with the new lesson! For now, this are the basic templates used to warn users:
- {{uw-vandalism1}}
- {{uw-vandalism2}}
- {{uw-vandalism3}}
- {{uw-vandalism4}}
- {{uw-vandalism4im}}
- This templates are numbered and should be added to an user talk page when the user vandalizes the encyclopedia. Your next assignment will be added to the classroom! Macy's123 (review me) 21:24, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
Hey
[edit]Yeah thanks you too. Thebluesharpdude--Thebluesharpdude (talk) 16:02, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
Adoption lesson
[edit]the problem is that what we need is to install Twinkle for your next lesson, and this script works only on Firefox and Opera. Macy's123 (review me) 17:55, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
- You can download Firefox here (US English), and when you finish, please notify me. Macy's123 (review me) 18:07, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
How to customize your signature
[edit]Follow the next steps

- On the Signature field, create your signature
- Click Save, and bypass your cache
- Done!
- Tip: I suggest you to create one on your sandbox and later follow the steps.
Macy's123 (review me) 01:06, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
- I see that you like to create userboxes. A suggestion for you is: Join the Wikipedia:WikiProject Userboxes, a project that aims to organise, expand and improve all Wikipedia's userboxes. Click on the link above to see more. Macy's123 (review me) 18:35, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
- Hello, you have an assignment at the Adoptee classroom. Macy's123 (review me) 00:21, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
Please Use Edit Summaries
[edit]Hi there. When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:
The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.
Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field. If you are adding a section, please do not just keep the previous section's header in the Edit summary field - please fill in your new section's name instead. Thank you. Macy's123 (review me) 18:49, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
WP:F1 Wikipedia Ad
[edit]You have not followed the proper Wikipedia Ad guidelines:
- Improper image size
- Incorrect image name
- You have not listed the image source of your F1 car in the ad on the image's licensing page.
Please fix these errors. - Jameson L. Tai talk ♦ contribs 20:31, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
It's ok. If you need help fixing these errors, let me know. - Jameson L. Tai talk ♦ contribs 20:36, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
- Yup, I see the new revisions. If you want to design a Wikipedia Ad, I'd suggest if you don't necessary know what you're doing, to ask User:Miranda to see if she could make one for you.
- If you want to make your own, then know this, the image resolution should be 468x60 px, if you're making just a picture (not animated), use PNG format. And you should to select a car from WikiCommons so you can guarantee a free picture. Be sure to cite the image source on your ad's image summary. Also, please read up on the correct image naming scheme. Your ad should have been something like Image:Qxz-ad117.gif instead of Wikipedia.GIF. Depending on who's the last person to upload Ads, #117 in the filename may change.
- If you need additional assistance, feel free to buzz me or give User:Miranda a buzz. Happy Editing! - Jameson L. Tai talk ♦ contribs 21:25, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

Pictures from Commons
[edit]Hi, if you want to use a picture from commons just use its title between the wikilink marks [[image:example.jpg]] like that. Pictures on commons are available to use over the whole of wikipedia in all languages, as long as the use of said picture is relevant to the article. Mjroots (talk) 20:19, 5 February 2008 (UTC)
Retailers Wiki
[edit]Hello, LB22. I think that Retailers Wiki can expand to the UK, as long as the page uses American English. Macy's123 (review me) 18:21, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit]Constructive contributions are appreciated and strongly encouraged, but your recent edit to the userpage of another user may be considered vandalism. Specifically, your edit to User:Thehelpfulone may be offensive or unwelcome. If you are the user, please log in under that account and proceed to make the changes. Please use the sandbox for any tests you may want to do. Take a look at our introduction page to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia. Thank you. Please explain why you changed my userpage without my permission, and without providing a good reason in the edit summary? As a matter of fact, not providing an edit summary at all?! - Thats OK! Welcome to Wikipedia! --The Helpful One 18:52, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
- Hi again, well the Simple Wikipedia might be small, so there might not be enough users to start an Adopt a user program, if you follow the lessons that your adoption user gives you User:Macys123 then you should be fine. Enjoy using Wikipedia! --The Helpful One 19:13, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
- I wonder which users, they really should assume good faith! :)

Graduation
[edit]According to this page, you need to contribute more to the Article Namespace. Also, I recommend you to read this policy. There are many things to do here, like patrolling pages, wikify pages, and much more! You haven't created a page yet, what you need to do is create a page, or you can help creating articles at Articles for Creation.
Your graduation will be when you create an article that meets this criteria:
- Remember to read those policies!
P.S. Could you join here: #wikipedia-en -Macy's123 (talk) 19:00, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
Need help with Wikipedia ads?
[edit]Hello LB22, I've seen that you have created this ad. What you need to create ads is a GIF animator. If you'd like, I can create one for you! Or if you want, you can create your own ad, (did you read the Creating Ads policy?)
This is how I create ads: First, I use GIMP to create layers. Then I merge the layers with Microsoft GIF animator. Macy's123 (talk) 19:05, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
Request for Rollback
[edit]Hi - I have granted your request. Please remember only to use rollback for clear-cut vandalism. Pedro : Chat 21:22, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

Re:Help
[edit]I'd be happy to help with the newsletter - is there anything in particular that you need assistance with?-- Diniz (talk) 14:11, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
- I think the content and format are fine they way they are. There are a few suggestions I would make, though:
- Change Formula 1 to Formula One in accordance with WPF1's own use.
- Move the February newsletter to Wikipedia:WikiProject Formula One/Newsletter/2008-02 or similar so that each old newsletter can be preserved (this would mean changing the links on those users' talk pages you have sent this month's newsletter). The March newsletter page would then be called Wikipedia:WikiProject Formula One/Newsletter/2008-03 (or equivalent), with the Wikipedia:WikiProject Formula One/Newsletter page containing more general information and discussion.
- Make the newsletter collapsible, for example like this one.
- The existing newsletter could do with a copyedit. I could do this later if you're happy with it.
- This is all I can think of at the moment. I think the newsletter is a great idea, by the way, and definitely suitable for the F1 Wikiproject!-- Diniz (talk) 14:30, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks, I have to dash off now but I'll be back in a few hours and will check up on it then.-- Diniz (talk) 14:35, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
- Just a minor thing: there's no need to create a separate heading for every time you post on my talk page as part of the same conversation. You can use colons to indent comments, which differentiates between comments left at different times. Happy editing!-- Diniz (talk) 14:39, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
- Right, I've moved the February newsletter to a subpage and revised the formatting slightly (and updated the relevant users' talk pages), and started a basic general newsletter page. The only thing I'm stuck on at the moment is making the newsletter collapsible - I'll have to come back to that later on.-- Diniz (talk) 17:56, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

It's ok
[edit]It's fine but why do you want to know and why are you so happy? Just want to make one thing clear here: is it free. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Chubbennaitor (talk • contribs) 18:03, 24 February 2008 (UTC) I've dropped in a quote with Diniz for me to helpwith the newsletter. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Chubbennaitor (talk • contribs) 18:51, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
If you look at Diniz's quote off me those are my queries. There are some riddles on my user page now.Chubbennaitor (talk) 19:39, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
try again at the 4th one and look at the question at the bottom. tell me when to help with the newsletter. Chubbennaitor (talk) 20:44, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
How do I help with the newsletter. post me a way to add to it. Chubbennaitor (talk) 17:50, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
I get picky . CHUBBENNAITOR. Am I psychic of something because I thought that there already was a newsletter and the next day someone put it up as there was one. I get over excited. Chubbennaitor (talk) 20:07, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

F1 Newsletter
[edit]Hi. Sorry for the delayed response, but I'd like to receive the next issue. This could be an interesting resource - I think you'll need to persevere for a bit to really get people on board with it. How much interest have you had? 4u1e (talk) 10:48, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
March WPF1 Newsletter
[edit]As March is almost upon us, I have taken the liberty of creating a draft of a new issue of the WPF1 newsletter in my sandbox. I've left the editor's message part blank for you, and if there's anything else you'd like to change (the quotation and photo are just examples), then please feel free to edit it! Do you think it would be best to send out a newsletter at the start of every month, or do you have a different preference?-- Diniz (talk) 22:48, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
- Incidentally, I think that...
