Welcome to my userpage! Until recently I edited under the username "Tokyogirl79", which I initially chose because I liked Ace of Base and their song "Tokyo Girl" was one of my favorites. (My fondness for the band has greatly diminished after reports that Ulf Ekberg was part of a neo-Nazi band and that Ace of Base may have been an extension of that. Whether or not it's true, that is kind of a buzzkill.)
I changed it because while I still like the name, it doesn't fit me as well as it used to when I was in my teens and early 20s. There's also a question of whether or not it would be considered culturally insensitive, as I am not Japanese, nor have I ever been to Tokyo. I chose my new username because I thought it was cute and because I'd seen it used for programs like this one. Who doesn't love books and dogs? Aqua was also a favorite, so if I'd named my Wikipedia account after them I'd have probably chosen the song "Lollipop" or "Cartoon Heroes".
Note: If you send me an e-mail, let me know on my talk page by posting {{You've got mail}}. Also, please be aware that I am not as active as I once was, so if it's very urgent I recommend asking for help on the administrator noticeboard.
Interested in creating a film article? Check out the list here! It's a list of articles to be created - I collected enough sourcing to establish notability. All it needs is to be written up!
I've written a few guidelines/essays that might be helpful.
For sample article layouts, see the following:
I formerly volunteered at the Library of Virginia and made some edits on their behalf via an alternate account, User:Tokyogirl79LVA. See that article's talk page about the various edits I made on their behalf. (I did open the account User:Tokyogirl79LVA2 in error, but that one wasn't be used, and I also opened an account by the name of User:PewterCat for the sake of testing the signup process.) Until 6/30/2020 I was employed through Wiki Education and used the account User:Shalor (Wiki Ed), which I will no longer be using.
Also, in order to prevent impersonation I opened an account under my prior username. That will not be used.
Years ago someone reached out to a paper to promote themselves as far as Wikipedia goes and per his misunderstanding of the routine Teahouse notification for new users, the paper described it as "prestigious" and a "rare honor". His created articles were imperfect, so years later he went to the same paper to complain about his articles being deleted for being too Westernized, as well as complain about being blocked for asking questions. In reality he was blocked for sockpuppetry. (Also the articles were fairly promotional, as he was being paid to edit, and were brought to AfD by a member of WikiProject India who is fluent in Tamil, FWIW.)
My point with this is that it's important to make sure that you source content properly and not sockpuppet. If you do go to the media in hopes of gaining coverage for your topic area or yourself, make sure that you report as honestly as possible as these things are pretty easy to discover. Also, if you're being paid to create articles, be transparent!
