Etymology

From (deprecated template usage) [etyl] French Cambodge and (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Portuguese Camboja. Both these words are derived from Middle Khmer Kambuja (Modern (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Khmer, កម្ពុជា (kampuciə)). Ultimately from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Sanskrit काम्बोज (kāmbōja, the name of a tribe mentioned in Hindu scripture).
