Etymology
From *slovǫta (“the kind that flows”), from *slov-ǫ (1sg.) + *-ǫt-a, from *sluti, from Proto-Indo-European *ḱleu- (“to flow”).
Native Slavic name of the Dnieper River, suppressed Scythian-Sarmatian by borrowing *Dъněprъ.
