From *slovǫta (the kind that flows), from *slov-ǫ (1sg.) +‎ *-ǫt-a, from *sluti, from Proto-Indo-European *ḱleu- (to flow).

Native Slavic name of the Dnieper River, suppressed Scythian-Sarmatian by borrowing *Dъněprъ.
