Disney Television Animation (DTVA) merupakan studio animasi Amerika Serikat, bagian produksi animasi televisi oleh The Walt Disney Company. Ini didedikasikan untuk membuat, mengembangkan, dan memproduksi serial televisi animasi, film, khusus dan proyek lainnya.

Didirikan pada tahun 1984 selama reorganisasi dan penggabungan ulang berikutnya dari The Walt Disney Company menyusul kedatangan CEO Disney Michael Eisner, entitas sebelumnya dikenal sebagai The Walt Disney Pictures Television Animation Group, nama itu kemudian diubah, disingkat menjadi Walt Disney Television Animation mulai tahun 1987 dan namanya bertahan sampai 2011, ketika namanya telah dipersingkat lagi menjadi Disney Television Animation.[2]

Latar belakang

The Walt Disney Company pertama kali terjun ke industri televisi sejak awal tahun 1950, dimulai dengan satu jam spesial Natal, One Hour in Wonderland. Hal ini diikuti oleh sajian spesial Natal tahun 1951, The Walt Disney Christmas Show, serial antologi yang berdurasi panjang (1954-2008), The Wonderful World of Disney (yang merupakan serial reguler pertama Disney secara keseluruhan), acara varietas anak-anak The Mickey Mouse Club, dan serial petualangan tahun 1957-1959, Zorro. Namun, salah satu elemen yang hilang dari ekspansi Disney ke dalam televisi: Sebuah serial televisi animasi asli. Sampai awal tahun 80-an, studio tidak pernah memproduksi acara animasi asli in-house sendiri, karena Walt Disney merasa itu tidak mungkin secara ekonomi. Hampir semua animasi TV pra-1985 merupakan segmen pendek yang dibuat untuk menjembatani kesenjangan materi teater yang ada di The Wonderful World of Disney. Pengelolaan

DTVA dipimpin oleh Eric Coleman,[3][4] Wakil Presiden Senior, Original Series, ia melapor kepada Gary Marsh, presiden dan kepala kreatif dari Disney Channels Worldwide.

Presiden sebelumnya dari Television Animation adalah Meredith Roberts dan Barry Blumberg. Blumberg mengumumkan pengunduran dirinya pada bulan November 2005.[5]

Tom Ruzicka, sekarang di Universal Animation Studios, adalah salah satu eksekutif asli bertugas kelompok pemula ini. Eksekutif animasi lain yang bekerja di Television Animation selama bertahun-tahun adalah Barbara Ferro, Sharon Morrill, Bill Gross (mantan Presiden Jumbo Pictures, pencipta Doug), Maia Matisse, Lenora Hume.
