We plan to drop the wb_entity_per_page table

Hey folks, we plan to drop the wb_entity_per_page table sometime soon[0], because it is just not required (as we will likely always have a programmatic mapping from entity id to page title) and it does not supported non -numeric entity ids as it is now. Due to this removing it is a blocker for the commons metadata. Is anybody using that for their tools (on tool labs)? People who died in 2015 who were Dutch

Hoi, Jura1 created a wonderful list of people who died in Brazil in 2015 [1]. It is a page that may update regularly from Wikidata thanks to the ListeriaBot. Obviously, there may be a few more because I am falling ever more behind with my quest for registering deaths in 2015. I have copied his work and created a page for people who died in the Netherlands in 2015 [2]. It is trivially easy to do this and, the result is great. The result looks great, it can be used for any country in any Wikipedia The Dutch Wikipedia indicated that they nowadays maintain important metadata at Wikidata. I am really happy that we can showcase their work. It is important work because as someone reminded me at some stage, this is part of what amounts to the policy of living people... Photographers' Identities Catalog (& WikiData)

Hello all, The Photographers' Identities Catalog (PIC) is an ongoing project of visualizing photo history through the lives of photographers and photo studios. I have information on 115,000 photographers and studios as of tonight. It is still under construction, but as I've almost completed an initial indexing of the ~12,000 photographers in WikiData, I thought I'd share it with you. We (the New York Public Library) hope to launch it officially in mid to late January. This represents about 12 years worth of my work of researching in NYPL's photography collection, censuses and business directories, and scraping or indexing trusted websites, databases, and published biographical dictionaries pertaining to photo history. Again, please bear in mind that our programmer is still hard at work (and I continue to refine and add to the data*), but we welcome your feedback, questions, critiques, etc. To see the WikiData photographers, select WikiData from the Source dropdown. SPARQL returns bnodes for some items

Hi Stas, hi all, I just noted that BlazeGraph seems to contain a few erroneous triples. The following query, for example, returns a blank node "t7978245": SELECT ?superClass WHERE { <http://www.wikidata.org/entity/Q595133> p:P279/ps:P279 ?superClass } https://query.wikidata.org/#SELECT%20%3FsuperClass%20WHERE%20{%0A%20%20%3Ch… I stumbled upon six cases like this (for P279): Q595133 (shown above), Q1691488, Q11259005, Q297106, Q1293664, and Q539558. This would be less than 0.001% of the 623,963 P279 statements, but it's still enough to have application code trip over the unexpected return format ;-). Fight vandalism

Hey all, I've been working to make vandalism detection easier and I was able to build an AI tool that scores each and every edit for being vandalism. It's one step forward but not enough, since using these scores is hard. So I'm working on building tools that makes these scores more useable for you. The long-term goal is using the ORES extension. it is working now in beta cluster [1] and you can test it in [2] as well. Once we are done with Wikidata:Edit labels [3] we are good to deploy this as a beta feature in Wikidata (we are waiting for something else too but hopefully it's done very soon) But I wanted something helpful in short-term too. So in this weekend*, I registered #wikidata-vandalism IRC channel in freenode and I made a bot that reports unpatrolled edits with high scores every six minutes if they are made in the last six minutes. Upcoming WDQS upgrade to Blazegraph 2.0

Hi! It looks like all the issues that we have had with Blazegraph 2.0 are now fixed, so I will attempt to upgrade our install to 2.0 again sometime around noon PDT tomorrow. There should be no visible changes except for brief restart for each server that should not be externally visible (since we have two so the other one would just take over). However, if something bad happens, there might be a brief disruption of service.
