use with "conversion to SI unit"

edit

Could you use just "conversion to standard unit"? Otherwise unit conversion for SI just gets too complicated on SPARQL.

Ideally, I think for units there should be separate item for each polis. I'm sure this property could be used in some other field as qualifier.

@Jura1: I can understand your opinion, but there are two problems: if we have for example four items for "stadion", what will stadion (Q1645966) become and where will we store sitelinks (in the "main" item, maybe)? --Epìdosis 19:31, 30 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
It would be somehow like point (Q156389) and DTP point (Q21673990).
To see how conversion to SI unit (P2370) works, check the sample at Wikidata_talk:SPARQL_query_service/queries#Quantities.
If people use stadion (Q1645966) as unit of measure for a lenght in statement and you want to convert this, the statement would need to include a reference to the qualifier value as well, otherwise one couldn't determine which stadion it refers to.

@Jura1: OK. In my opinion you can divide the items where I used this property as qualifier. When you have finished you can list them here. Thank you, --Epìdosis 18:54, 31 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
Ok. Will do.

Use with epithets

edit

@Jura1: What's your opinion about an use like Gynaecothoenas (Q5625156)? --Epìdosis 11:52, 6 August 2016 (UTC) And what about Epidotes (Q5382860)? --Epìdosis 12:01, 6 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hard to say. I'm a bit sceptical about using qualifiers (or references) on P31. If these are needed, I think it's generally a sign that another property should be used. Maybe indigenous to (P2341) could work here.
--- Jura 07:11, 7 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
OK. @Jura1: I understand that you agree with me about of (P642) as qualifier; I think that no other qualifier but of (P642) and no reference should be used with instance of (P31) too. I like very much indigenous to (P2341), which I didn't know, but its constraints seem to be against such a use you have proposed here. --Epìdosis 12:12, 7 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
