ID format change?
editCurrently, the Treasury of Lives ID (e.g. "Ninth-Dalai-Lama-Lungtok-Gyatso/4469") contains two parts: one is the person's name, and the other is the numeric part. But actually, only the numeric part matters. For example, we can use http://api.treasuryoflives.org/resource/TOLP4469 (which only contains the numeric ID 4469) to link to the article. So I propose to change this ID to a numeric ID. It has three advantages: 1) the article's name might be changed, but the numeric ID will stay the same; 2) currently the ID is not unique, both Kunga-Zangmo/TBRC_P8LS12641 and Second-Samding-Dorje-Pakmo-Kunga-Zangmo/13206 point to the same article; 3) Buddhist Digital Resource Center (Q30324366), a very important Tibetan Buddhism resource, also uses the numeric Treasury of Lives ID (e.g. see the Treasury of Lives link in https://library.bdrc.io/show/bdr:P274). We can more easily populate Treasury of Lives ID (P4138) using BDRC Resource ID (P2477) if we use the numeric ID. --Stevenliuyi (talk) 01:03, 1 May 2021 (UTC)
- I have been bold and already replaced the current IDs with numeric IDs and changed the formatter URL. Please let me know if you think it's inappropriate. I also plan to import more IDs from Buddhist Digital Resource Center (Q30324366) soon. --Stevenliuyi (talk) 05:00, 10 May 2021 (UTC)
- I have already imported more than 10,000 IDs from Buddhist Digital Resource Center (Q30324366).--Stevenliuyi (talk) 07:16, 13 May 2021 (UTC)
