BioMed Central journal ID
editOriginally proposed at Wikidata:Property proposal/Authority control
Motivation
editbiomedcentral.com (Q130266220) is the official website of the academic publisher BioMed Central (Q463494), containing information about scientific publications. There should be more than 370 IDs for journals, at least for what concerns the ones currently covered on Wikidata. --Horcrux (talk) 13:44, 9 September 2024 (UTC)

- Comment this is just the URL of the journal, isn't it? For which we already have official website (P856)? ArthurPSmith (talk) 19:53, 13 September 2024 (UTC)
- @ArthurPSmith: I guess both. The same holds for other academic editors' properties like P12905 or P12897, doesn't it? The only difference I see is that here IDs are (currently) used as subdomain. Note that the pattern used to be
http://www.biomedcentral.com/$1/
(which should be indicated as second, not preferred formatter URL (P1630)), and now URLs like http://www.biomedcentral.com/bmcanesthesiol/ are redirected to https://bmcanesthesiol.biomedcentral.com/. --Horcrux (talk) 07:15, 23 September 2024 (UTC)- @ArthurPSmith, would you like to give your opinion? - I guess this feels different to me from other id properties but maybe I'm being silly. Probably somebody else should weigh in. ArthurPSmith (talk) 23:00, 3 October 2024 (UTC)
Support Good proposal! It can't be official website (P856), because here is another link to this journal in Springer . Biomedcentral is an established source, even for me as an IT manager. --David Osipov (talk) 12:26, 26 October 2024 (UTC)
Comment There is already a mix&match catalog created: 1120 Gerwoman (talk) 17:32, 3 November 2024 (UTC)

- Sorry, as reported by @Magnus Manske, these identifiers appear to be alphanumeric, whereas the catalog IDs are numeric. We should change the catalog or the property. Anyway, the web page has an "internal" numeric value, for example:
