Motivation
editThe Ohio Department of Transportation uses these three-letter county codes extensively, including on mile markers. Within Ohio, they are analogous to FIPS 6-4 county codes. They also maintain ODOT township number (Q108569676) and ODOT municipal number (Q108569694), but those numbers are more obscure. – Minh Nguyễn 💬 06:05, 17 September 2021 (UTC)
Discussion
edit- Comment I changed datatype to external-id given the proposed distinct and single value constraints. --- Jura 05:53, 20 September 2021 (UTC)
- Comment Would it be possible to use the regex-matching property constraint to prefix with county:, township:, or municipality:? Or would that be counterproductive? Arlo Barnes (talk) 12:00, 11 October 2021 (UTC)
- Comment 88 seems a rather small number for usage of a Wikidata property. Could you handle this with something else, like simply code (P3295)? ArthurPSmith (talk) 17:31, 11 October 2021 (UTC)
- If the code is combined with the township and municipal numbers, then there would be 1,697 IDs. I think the county can be combined with the township or municipal number in the form "ABC-12", but I'm not certain about that. Minh Nguyễn 💬 06:50, 1 November 2021 (UTC)
- Geocodes are usually in such numbers, see e.g. P:P2585 with 32. Rather than having thousands of nearly identical ones for countries, maybe it's better to collect more specific ones. --- Jura 16:29, 9 November 2021 (UTC)
