What is the Wiki Global Check In?
The Wiki Global Check-In is a chance to collaborate with members of the Global Wikimedia community and gather snapshots of life during this historical moment we are all witnessing world-wide.
Beginning Saturday, May 16th, 2020 at noon in every time zone, we invite you to join us for a 24 hour editathon. The project will last 100 days, until August 22, 2020!
We are living in complicated times. In moments like these, the Wikimedia movement is more important than ever.

While you are here, you can add an image and contribute an edit for our global edit-a-thon that will serve as time-capsule helpng to document the movement's actions in this unprecedented time.
Upload a photo to Wikimedia Commons that captures something related to life in your context or part of the world during the pandemic. You can also upload an audio or video clip (ideally 10-30 seconds long).

Schools in my state of Victoria are currently open only for children of essential workers or those who are vulnerable. Most students and teachers are involved in remote learning from home. Victoria plans for a staged return to on-site schooling for students in Prep – Grade 2, Year 11 and 12 and all students in specialist schools from Tuesday 26 May 2020. Others will go back on Tuesday 9 June 2020.
My main contribution is in the Wikimedia Australia chapter and outreach activities in education and GLAMs. I edit mainly Wikidata in the area of Australian education. I am working on #1Lib1Ref and #WikiCite.

The main activity has been with teaching Wikipedia and Commons to university students. Working from home has increased my workload, compared to travelling to and from Sydney once a week. But still hoping to go through my photograph backlog that needs to be edited and uploaded!
Hello Wikimedians, while it is cold in the southern Hemisphere, I hope it is warm where you are and able to go out for a walk, while practicing social distancing.
My photograph is from a walk I took around Lyall Bay, in Wellington. This is the first weekend that New Zealand has had at Lockdown Level 2, enabling folk to be out and about, undertake sports such as kite surfing, shopping relatively normally and gathering in groups no larger than 10.
I edit English Wikipedia, Wikidata and Wikicommons. I am working on #1Lib1Ref, #WomenInRed work, and WikiProject:iNaturalist in both Wikidata and Wikicommons.

This video is a cheat from a week ago when New Zealand was in Alert Level 3, but preparing to move to Level 2. It advises cyclists to look out for pedestrians and their "bubble".
I add and edit items in Wikidata and upload to Commons.

My photographs are from a dance party we held in Portland to honor our dear friend Kelly Peach, who died recently. My friend Rev. Phil Sano (in the yellow shirt) organized this party in an empty movie theater parking lot, where we could dance with plenty of space (between those who do not live together), to observe social distancing guidelines. It's important to keep up our connections in a time like this, as difficult as it can be. Thank you Phil for pulling this together.
