Search for Global Renamers
Hi, sorry in advance if I am bothering you. I just want to inform you about a possibilty here on meta. After the SUL finalization there is a search for additional Global_renamers (GR). You should know, since you translated some of the related pages here on meta.
As I did with other users with knowledge of less "common" languages, I am contacting you because at the moment in Global_renamers#Users_with_global_rename_access and Stewards#List_of_current_stewards, if I correctly remember, noone is tr>3. Mardetanha is tr-2, but (s)he is not very active as a GR. More than 65 millions people speak Turkish, and I don't expect some seniors to know other languages such as English very well, so there is a gap IMHO.
Now, you have a robust cross-wiki activity and you are a sysop on different projects, and you deal with user-related issues even as a OTRS member. If you want to be more involved in the GR tasks in the future, please feel free to apply. We have accepted in the past months candidates with much lower cross-wiki activity or language skills than you, so you probably have good chances. Some of them were en-1 and you are en-2. You also were a local bureaucrat on tr.wikimedia.
Please notice that I am not an expert user on meta nor a local bureaucrat or sysop, I just care about the "variety" of the meta environment and I though that it was useful to inform some users of the opportunity. If you know yourself some profile who might be interested, please let him/her know about this "opportunity".

Spam fighting on wiki

- @Fnielsen: You're welcome. Yes, global sysops and stewards helped for the pages and spamming users that I marked. I noticed these pages immediately with the SWViewer tool. - Hello @1997kB: Although translation pages appear in the category, it included Special:MyLanguage as content in page. While I'm translating, I don't create such categories manually. If I remember correctly, I create it with the translation tool. Also translation pages in this category appear automatically without created. I think these categories are called translation categories. Meta:Categories#Languages. When editing these categories, the phrase "translate" appears. But I can't see this category as marked for translation in any languages. For these reasons, I thought the user opened it for testing. Admin activity review/Local inactivity policies
Hey there! I saw your name at the edit history of the aforementioned page. Can you help me with some information? I'm a crat at SqWiki and I was thinking to open a discussion with my community about setting some local limits in regard to our crats and admins. That's because we have a lot of admins (and maybe even crats) but very few of them are ever active past doing 1 change per year just so they're inside the general 2 year limit. My proposal is that the limit is changed from 2 years to 6 months or maybe 1 year and for the number of edits to be raised from 1 edit to... something more substantial. And if they hit their limit, they are removed from stewards. This is of course something we'll have to decide as a community. But I'm not sure if we can make such a decision. Assuming we had a discussion and we agreed to that, would there be needed anything else? What would be our next step if agreement was reached? Do we just put our name into that list with our rules and they're guaranteed to be taken into consideration by stewards? (The stewards are the ones who do the removal, right? It's not automatic?) - Hi @Klein Muçi: Each wiki project can set its own inactivity rules. After accept this, if the bureaucrats don't have the rights to remove the admin rights, after the local review processes are made and the request is made to the stewards, then inactive admins are removed by the stewards. If you accept your local policy, it is important that you review the activity for admins several times in a year. But I can't see very active admins in Albanian Wikipedia in this year. It looks like you only have a few very active admins. Making a local policy can be an extra dificult for you. If you do your own inactivity review for 6 months, half of your current admins may need to be removed. Therefore, I think that the local community should have the ability to run this process and decide on it by consensus. If you accept your own rule, it might be good to say the stewards on the notice board. I say these according to the general processes in activity process. - @Uncitoyen, thanks a lot for the reply! Yes, you are very correct in everything that you say. Actually that's part of the reason why I've thought about changing the criteria lately. We are starting to have a lot of inactive admins. These confuses newcomers who can't understand why things take forever to be done even though there are a lot of admins, usually forces them to write the same request to different admins many times until they find one who's active/responsive, create security and privilege issues in regard to their accounts, given that they may not care that much anymore about "the wiki standards" and lastly (and most importantly), makes bureaucrats shut down most of new RFAs with the rationale "we currently have A LOT of admins" (because de jure they do).
- For all these reasons, my idea was to make the process a bit more dynamic in nature. Make it a bit easier to become an admin or a crat and easier to lose that status if interests change over time. If you check the contributions of each admin and crat at our project you'll see that most of them have years without doing any edits. They just do 1-2 edits every 2 years to postpone the deadline and that's it. So that's why I wanted to change that, make it a bit harder to game the system. But my initial idea was that this thing was automatic. So, I thought that if inactivity criteria was met, they'd get auto-removed somehow. Then I understood that this job is done by stewards. And now, after reading your answer, I'm starting to think that maybe this will be enforced by local crats, stewards not having the right to act on that. If that's the case, we'd solve everything on our own, without having to agree for anything here. But my hope was for the process to be handled by unincluded parts, ideally automatically, not by the local crats because that may give rise to debates and accusations of power abuse. Am I to understand that something like what I'm describing is not possible because desyssoping will always be handled by local crats if they exist and not by stewards (or any automatic feature)? - Klein Muçi (talk) 23:51, 14 November 2021 (UTC)
How we will see unregistered users
Hi!
You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.
When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.
Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.

- @Cyron Choi: You should ask the opinion of other users, not mine only. As far as I understand, you moved the requests to a subpage. I don't have much idea in whether this your work is necessary or not. The archives pages, bots and the tools have settings related to SRG, and changing it suddenly willn't make the processes much easier.
