Wikimedians of Lagos User Group is a group of Wikimedians in Nigeria's most populous city of Lagos. This group aims to bring together the Wikimedia community in Lagos and its surrounding areas and to promote the use of Wikimedia projects by people in and around Lagos. Membership is open to any interested person.

Objective

  • Group all Wikimedians living in Lagos.
  • Promote the use of Wikimedia projects by people in and around Lagos.
  • Organize in-person gatherings of Wikimedians in and around Lagos.
  • Help people in and around Lagos learn how to edit Wikimedia projects.
  • Promotion of Lagos related topics in different languages.
  • Establishment partnerships between the Wikimedia community and various cultural, science, educational, and media organizations based in Lagos.
  • Cooperating with local authorities, organizations, and individuals to receive grants and other materials to promote free knowledge in Lagos.
  • Working on the Creative Commons contents for Wikimedia Commons.
  • Involving in GLAM.

  • Organizing wiki meetups in Lagos.
  • Organizing article contests and thematic weeks about topics related to Lagos.
  • Organizing wiki-excursions and other events for establishments relationship between the community and cultural institutions based in Lagos.
  • Massive support for the Nigerian Pidgin Language on Wikimedia projects.
  • Partnership with schools of Lagos to contribute to Wikimedia projects.
  • Organizing PhotoWalks in Lagos.
