Gebruiker:MauritsBot/cosmetic changes
Cosmetic changes are mutations of the raw text of an article, with the goal to make the editing version easier to understand. Most of these changes do not appear in the reading version of the article.
This type of automatic changes will only be applied in combination with some other script (e.g. interwiki.py or featured.py), to save server capacity.
AWB
bewerkenThe AWB-bot makes some cosmetic changes automatically; most AWB-users use this option and when they do, this fact doesn't appear in the edit summary.
Pywikipedia
bewerkenThe pywikipedia-bot has a similar faculty. It makes the following extra changes:
- standardize interwiki's
- standardize categories
- cleanup links (for example: linkname becomes linkname and pagetitle becomes pagetitle)
- cleanup section headers (for example: ==Title== becomes == Title ==)
- translate and capitalize namespaces (for example: in sv: kategori:title becomes Kategori:Title and becomes Kategori:Title)
- remove deprecated templates (if there are any)
- resolve html-entities (translate &code; into it's proper understandable form)
- valid Xhtml (for example, change <br> tot <br />)
- remove useless spaces
- hyphenate ISBN numbers
If cosmetic changes are applied, then this will be visible in the edit summary; in your own language or in English.
