Issues belonging in other projects (e.g. Language Engineering projects) also affecting the WikiLearn project

Sounds good, thanks!

If we decide to bundle individual component message bundles into a single aggregate group as discussed here, we would need to fetch lesser number of courses. Instead of fetching individual components, WikiLearn can fetch the aggregate groups, and determine what's changed. This will reduce the number of HTTP requests that WikiLearn has to make to Meta-Wiki.

Recording here that the WikiLearn vendor is waiting on LangEng for this. Thanks.

Maybe https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/c/mediawiki/extensions/Translate/+/1036589 could help with this?
Tested on translatewiki.net. Works as expected.

I checked recently created message bundles and Logstash. The logs look good, and all the message bundles are available for translation. I'd say this issue is resolved.

I wouldn’t say T332682 solves this. It makes it much less visible, but since both titles specified in message bundle metadata and titles of translatable pages can be made long and hardly distinguishable, the issue remains.
See also T332682: Allow message group title to be specified in message bundle metadata which should solve this as well as making the message group names more usable.

The scenario described in the task description is such an edge case that while it should be possible to distinguish these entries, I don’t think we should optimize for them. Moderately long titles (like the “A letter of thanks…” in my screenshot) look much better IMO when broken in multiple lines than when horizontally scrollable. Also, if people regularly need to distinguish these 32-digit hexadecimal IDs, then something’s fundamentally wrong with WikiLearn or the translatable bundle system – these IDs are for computers, not for people.

What about simply not preventing the browser from breaking the line?

I was thinking about this some more and here are some ideas:
Dec 9 2022
I've written a small script to perform null edits on the pages to re-create the message bundle. We now have all the courses available for translation
