Fiction

Last Bot Standing

Eldest of the Wallkis children, when Shib came of age, she was told that the wagon her family had used for generations was the stasis locked Rodimus, supposedly the last of an ancient race of star travellers. Last Bot Standing #2 Last Bot Standing #3 Upon being gifted the box of energon keys, Shib took to wearing one around her neck. Shib's parents eventually passed, leaving her to raise her younger brothers, Travyon and Beets, and run her family's delivery service.

After a seven sleep trip to collect supplies Brel Tonder, Shib returned to Fembrance where she was harassed by two rich hooligans, Stambo Flentz and his friend Brennet, driving by in their new ramblers, whose speed far-outpaced Shib's animal drawn cart. After speaking with Tonder about change, Shib retired for the evening. After her brothers had gone to bed, Shib was approached by the townfolk, needing her cart to reach a collapsed mine, the uneven terrain barring the ramblers. Hours later, as the sun began to set, Shib returned to Fembrance in time for a star being to arrive. As Shib tried to coordinate an evacuation, Rodimus came alive, transforming to robot mode and beheading the visitor. After Shib spoke with the ancient Autobot, he took his leave into the desert. By the time night fell, Shib caught up with Rodimus as he examined the visitor's space pod. When a star above winked out, Rodimus revealed that his species was responsible, explaining the Great War and his kind's functional extinction. When lawman Errold arrived with a mob, Shib tried to convince them that Rodimus was no threat only for the Autobot to agree to come peacefully. When they returned to Fembrance, Shib was placed under house arrest. After reassuring Beets that all would be well, Shib snuck out, intending to follow the ancient instructions and give Rodimus the energon key. Though Shib found the Autobot in the town square, she was powerless to stop Override and Riotgear from carrying him away. Having become tangled in Rodimus' makeshift cape, Shib was brought to the landing site of other Cybertronian survivors. Found by the pack, Shib was held by Moon to be processed into the visitors' new batch of biofuel. Last Bot Standing #2

Rather than immediately processing her however, Moon chose to converse with Shib, curious about the prospect of befriending an organic lifeform. When Moon was told to stop playing around, Shib was allowed by the Veteran to say a final goodbye to Rodimus, the girl taking the chance to administer the energon key. Regenerated, Rodimus destroyed the biofuel plant causing an enraged Wildwheel to hurl a piece of debris at Shib in revenge only for Moon to sacrificially save her life. After Rodimus had disposed of the Veteran, the two headed for Fembrance, Rodimus explaining how he had come to be stranded on Donnokt. After Rodimus dealt with Vex and Treadshock, the duo arrived at the ruined Fembrance, finding the entire town locked up before Steeljaw arrived to confront Rodimus, having taken Shib's brothers as hostages. Last Bot Standing #3

After the visitors had learnt of Donnokt's vast energon supplies and the rejuvenating effects of the energon keys, they began fighting over them, accidentally shattering one. When Rodimus opened the cages, Shib mounted Sparks and carried off the last energon key, intending to hide it in the mountains only for Sparks to run off. Realizing she'd accidentally led Steeljaw and Sharpclaw to the energon mine, Shib tried to climb to safety only to be quickly seized by the ex-Decepticons. Held by Sharpclaw, Shib watched as Steeljaw began beating Rodimus to death before she revealed to the siblings that the biofuel plant was destroyed, leaving them with nothing to fuel their conversion back to energon. Enraged, Steeljaw threw Rodimus down the mine shaft and prepared to detonate the energon and the planet. Understanding Rodimus' point, Sharpclaw attempted to talk down her brother before ultimately taking the shot that would have ended the world. When Shib called out Steeljaw, the ex-Decepticon began crushing her before a supercharged Rodimus emerged from the mine and blew off Steeljaw's head.

In the aftermath, Rodimus retired from his role as Shib's wagon, offering Fembrance better knowledge on how to make use of energon and providing upgraded ramblers to the Wallkis family. After Rodimus turned the remains of the visitors's ship into a one-way escape pod, the Wallkis siblings watched as he blasted off into orbit. That night, as Shib reflected on her time with the Autobot, she observed his ship in the sky, the light of which looked like a new star in the sky. Last Bot Standing #4
