Workshop outline

Here is an outline, not set in stone, for the Wikidata workshop 24 October, to be held in the WMUK office basement 10.30 am to 4 pm. You need to bring your own laptop/device.

Introductory page: /Three years of Wikidata. Workshop page: Query list.

First session
  • Introduction
  • Practical exercise
  • Example application to a smaller Wikipedia
  • Discussion around data

Break for lunch (provided) around 12.30 pm.

Second session

There will be an emphasis on practical applications and projects involving Wikidata, with a break around 3 pm.

  • Possible topics include queries, front ends, applications. Other topics may be covered, depending on audience wishes.

The assumption will be that those who attend have a Wikipedia account, and a basic familiarity with Wikipedia editing.

I shall be leading the session, with Andrew Gray. If you have already expressed an interest, you need to sign up below to confirm that you are coming: there is not unlimited space in the venue.

You can mail me from my user page on this wiki, for detailed discussion. Charles Matthews
