Alan Titchmarsh fans fume over ITV show’s ‘disrespectful’ Remembrance Sunday error

Fans of Love Your Weekend with Alan Titchmarsh were in for a shock as ITV neglected to include a two minutes' silence in respect for the fallen.

Love Your Weekend with Alan Titchmarsh viewers were left fuming as ITV appeared to make a huge Remembrance Sunday error.

The programme aired at 9:30am until 11:25am on ITV1 – the same time as the start of the BBC’s live coverage at the Cenotaph. But while other channels, including GB News and Channel 5, paused their coverage for two minutes of silence to honour the fallen, ITV’s show carried on as normal.

Fuming viewers turned to social media to air their grievances, with one writing: “Super sad that @ITV couldn’t be bothered to observe the ‘two minute’ silence this morning at 11am.

"At least @GBNEWS (albeit with technical issues) and @channel5_tv did it, obviously airing an interview with Alan Titchmarsh was more important to ITV.”

Reacting to a video of GB News’ technical difficulties, another said: “At least they had the decency to show it. Unlike ITV who apparently care more about Alan Titchmarsh than about the fallen.”

Someone else said: “@ITV appalling that you did not interrupt Alan Titchmarsh today for the two minute’s silence for #RemembranceSunday. Even cutting to a static ITV logo for two mins would have done. Deeply disrespectful.”

And another viewer said: “@ITV watched Alan Titchmarsh, shame you couldn’t squeeze a two min silence into a recorded programme.”

Instead, Alan’s show did focus on Remembrance Day events as he welcomed Sarah, Duchess of York, comedian Al Murray and Shetland star Ashley Jensen onto the programme. Some fans thought the coverage was “lovely” despite the lack of silence.

Writing on X, one defended ITV: “Love Your Weekend – some lovely touches to honour our armed forces today.”

The latest backlash comes after Alan welcomed a new star to Love Your Weekend – a guide dog named Titch. The golden retriever-Labrador cross caused a meltdown with fans, as Alan announced: “Love Your Weekend has a new star: Titch - the Guide Dogs for the Blind puppy.

“We'll be following his training with interest and encouragement. Go for it Titch!”
