The only ex-daytime soap actor ever named People’s “Sexiest Man Alive” was All My Children alum Michael B. Jordan, who took the title in 2020. His post-soap career has included Black Panther, the Creed movies, and 2013’s Fruitvale Station.

Although technically, Brad Pitt did appear in two episodes of Another World back in 1987. Apparently, it was his first speaking role on TV. Pitt would go on to achieve Holywood A-List status and be named “Sexiest Man Alive” twice — in 1995 and 2000.

However, a number of soap stars have appeared in the issues over the years. The Young and the Restless star Shemar Moore was featured in the 2017 issue. He famously told his mom that he’s “still got it.

911 has become a steady hit with six seasons on Fox before it was surprisingly canceled by the network. More surprising was that at the same time, the show moved to ABC. It's rare for a show already an established hit to jump networks like this, but so far, it's paid dividends for 911. 

With ABC's much higher budgets, the show can afford bigger events like Season 7's cruise ship disaster and Season 8's "Beenado" and plane emergency. Season 7 was cut down to only ten episodes due to the 2023 Hollywood strikes while Season 8 looks to be a full 22 episodes.

A new 911 spin-off in the works

Sadly, 911: Lone Star is confirmed as ending with its current fifth season. The combination of lower ratings without the mothership 911 show and the big budget involved ended the spin-off while the original 911 is still going.

Certain names are synonymous with horror. Hollywood has titans of terror from John Carpenter to Wes Craven, but there is only one “King of Horror,” Stephen King.

Nearly 40 years later, St. Elmo’s Fire is continuing to burn bright for its stars.

After first teasing a sequel in July, Rob Lowe recently gave an update that the followup to the 1985 coming-of-age film is “moving along” as he and co-star Demi Moore are in contact about the film.

“We’re very much in contact now because we are actively trying to do [the] St. Elmo’s Fire sequel,” said Lowe on Kelly Ripa’s Let’s Talk Off Camera podcast.

“It’s going a little more slowly than I would have liked,” he added. “But that’s a good thing because we’re trying to find the right writer and the right story. But all of the actors, everybody is on board. Everybody is excited.”

The planned sequel to 1985’s St Elmo’s Fire still lacks a director and doesn’t even have a writer yet, but the original cast have all agreed to return.

Back in August we learned that there was a plan in place to bring back the core cast of St Elmo’s Fire for a belated sequel. When Rob Lowe, one of the stars of St Elmo’s Fire, broke news of the sequel, he stated that negotiations were happening but that none of the cast were yet confirmed. A few months on, Lowe (who seems to be the film’s unofficial spokesperson) has popped up again to confirm that every member of the original film’s core cast will be returning. The actor said during SiriusXM’s “Let’s Talk Off Camera with Kelly Ripa” that the full cast of the original 1985 film are confirmed to reprise their respective roles, and that “The Substance” Oscar contender Demi Moore has especially been instrumental to the revival.

The feature, which was originally directed by late filmmaker Joel Schumacher and co-written by Carl Kurlander, also stars Andrew McCarthy, Emilio Estevez, Judd Nelson, Ally Sheedy, Andie MacDowell, and Mare Winningham. MacDowell’s daughter Margaret Qualley co-led “The Substance” with Moore.
