New York-based composer, arranger and pianist/keyboardist Joel Diamond
has successfully fused his interests in "serious" orchestral music and
contemporary electronic. His string quartet, "Danza Caprichosa",
recorded by Orchestra Nova, was nominated for a Grammy award. His
ballet, Leonard And Minky, was premiered, with narration by Mayor Ed
Koch and choreography by John Selya, at New York's Dance Theater
Workshop, in January 2000. Diamond's chamber pieces have been performed
by the Apple Brass Quintet and Orchestra Nova and four of his ballets
have been presented by the Cuban National Ballet. His scores have been
featured in Henry Bean's The Believer, winner of the feature film
competition for drama at the Sundance International Film Festival in
2001, Jacques Thelemaque's The Doghouse, James Bruce's The Suicide Club
and the PBS production, Heart Of The Garden. A highly sought session
pianist, Diamond has worked with such artists as Mick Taylor, Graham
Parker and Jane Oliver. The producer of the soundtrack albums for
Welcome To The Dollhouse and David Mamet's Oleanna, Diamond has been a
staff producer for Chesky since 1998, overseeing albums by Rebecca
Paris, Livingston Taylor and Sarah K..
