Brandon Rice was born in Denver, Colorado in 1985, but moved to Los
Angeles at an early age where he began making short films with his
siblings, including stop-motion animation tests with his beloved Lego
collection and action figures.
A long term friendship was developed in High School with Daniel Noa, together they began writing a series of Star Hunt stories which bore many likenesses and scenarios from their favorite Sci-Fi films and series. After a time they decided to produce a few of these stories into short films.
Brandon wrote and directed his first narrative short Start Hunt: Adversary in 2002/2003, shot on a HI-8 camcorder. The film was a good start for the budding filmmaker and the next winter (2004) Brandon again teamed up with pal Daniel to complete One Step Ahead, which screened in the Action on Film International Film Festival in Long Beach, CA.
A year later, in 2005, Brandon once again joined Daniel for the short film A Price Too High, where he served as co-writer, co-director, cinematographer, and editor. The film garnered much praise as it screened in several venues including the 2006 AOF Festival where it went on to win an award for Best Supporting Actress.
In 2006 came Brandon's biggest project yet, a 45-minute long narrative Christian action film, Smuggler's Ransom staring Anthony Tyler Quinn (Boy Meets World). Shot over four days through the summer of 2006 it was picked up by Cloud Ten Pictures (Left Behind, Saving God) and released nationwide on DVD in the summer of 2008.
In 2007 Brandon helped in the building of the new independent studio Coram Deo Studios where he served as editor on a pilot for a kid's history show called It Really Happened. During this time he also wrote and directed an award winning independent short film Welcome To The Party. This film received the Best Sci-Fi/Horror Short award in 2008 at the High Desert Shorts Film Festival.
The next big project came at the newly created Coram Deo Studios where Brandon served as story writer, associate producer, assistant camera operator, and editor on the faith-based romantic drama No Greater Love. This feature length film has been picked up by Carmel Entertainment (Fireproof, Facing the Giants).
Not satisfied to rest on the laurels of his various accomplishments Brandon continually attaches himself to projects that interest him and that have potential for success. Recently he served as the Los Angeles Casting Director for the neo-noir thriller Greyscale starring Ryan Dunlap, Doug Jones (Hellboy, Pan's Labrynth), Tim Russ (Star Trek: Voyager, Samantha Who) and Anthony Tyler Quinn (Boy Meets World, No Greater Love).
Brandon's latest project is at Coram Deo Studios on a musically driven faith-based teen drama set to be produced in 2009.
