August is here, and for the British royal family, that means heading to Balmoral Castle. This year, however, King Charles III’s niece, Zara Tindall, may not make it to Aberdeenshire, Scotland, to close out the summer. The reason? A potential scheduling conflict. But the king’s prepared to change the schedule around so the Tindalls don’t miss one of the royal family’s Balmoral traditions.
Zara Tindall’s Balmoral scheduling conflict
According to Express, Zara, 43, who is a professional equestrian, may compete at the Wellington International Horse Trials from Aug. 24-26, 2024, after submitting an application.
That same weekend, the royal family is planning their annual church service at Crathie Kirk near Balmoral Castle. King Charles is said to be eager to have Zara, 43, and her husband, Mike Tindall, as well as their children, Mia, Lena, and Lucas, in Scotland—so much so that he may change things around...

British royal family news divulges that one royal expert is concerned about Prince William’s plans for his reign which follows that of his father’s King Charles.
Much has been made of Charles’ plans for a slimmed down monarchy but apparently William’s plans are even more alarming. Here’s what to know.
Royal Family News – Will William Slim Down the Monarchy?
Daily Mail’s royal journalist Richard Eden reports that he was told something disquieting by a friend of Prince William.
It came after last weekend’s annual Trooping the Colour, the sovereign’s official birthday parade. This year the audience on the balcony was noticeably sparse compared to years past.
According to Eden “the junior royals were asked not to join the more senior members of ‘The Firm’ on the balcony.”

It’s the time of year when the royals take center stage at one of their calendar’s most significant public events. Trooping the Color is the sovereign’s annual birthday parade. However, a royal insider believes that Kate Middleton is “not well,” and any parade appearance could be “grueling” and “daunting.”
Kate Middleton’s cancer treatments may make any Trooping the Color appearance difficult.
In March 2024, Kate Middleton revealed in a videotaped message she was starting chemotherapy treatments for an undisclosed type of cancer. The disease was revealed during a planned abdominal surgery in January of this year.
Since March, Kate has remained out of the public eye. However, questions have been raised about whether she will make her first public appearance at this high-profile royal family event.
Arthur Edwards, The Sun‘s royal photographer, shared why he feels there’s no rush for Kate to return to the public eye.

Princess Anne went viral for blocking Prince Harry’s view at the coronation with her hat. Now, in a new royal biography, an author revealed how the Princess Royal reacted to the headpiece. Ahead, the question Anne asked about the hat she wore to King Charles III’s coronation. Plus, why she sat directly in front of the Duke of Sussex.
Anne wore a meaningful outfit to King Charles III’s coronation
Unlike Kate Middleton’s coronation dress, the Princess Royal’s ensemble reflected her military role in the ceremony. Anne served as Gold Stick in Waiting, a position she’s reportedly held since 1998, dating back to the 1400s when two officers — a Gold and Silver Stick — stayed near the monarch for protection.
Discussing her coronation role ahead of the ceremony, Anne told CBC News: The National she’d agreed to do it, in part, because it made figuring out what to wear easier.

Queen Elizabeth II made her final appearance on the Buckingham Palace balcony during her Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June 2022. It was reported at the time that given her age and mobility issues, the monarch wasn’t well enough to attend all of the festivities to celebrate her reign. One of the questions leading up to King Charles III’s coronation on May 6 was about where Prince Harry would be seated since he is no longer a working royal. It was reported that everything from the duke’s arrival at the ceremony to his seating was “meticulously crafted” to make sure there were no awkward encounters with his father or brother.
Harry was seated in the third row next to the York family but his view was blocked thanks to a “gigantic plume” in his aunt Princess Anne’s hat and apparently, the king knew that would be the case.

King Charles III’s coronation was a major royal family event — one that will go down in history, and one the public hasn’t been a part of since his mother was crowned 70 years earlier. The event was an all-day soiree, with the royal ceremony beginning early in the morning and the party continuing into the wee hours of the night. Plus, Sunday’s coronation concert drew people from all over the map and included headliners like Katy Perry and Lionel Richie.
However, only a few days later, a tragic accident occurred: Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh’s royal motorcade collided with an elderly woman, leaving her in critical condition.

King Charles has been officially crowned.
As important as who came to the coronation ceremony, however, is where they were seated.
People reports that while Charles and Queen Camilla were given the seats of honour in Westminster Abbey, his son Prince William and his family were seated in the front row.
5-year-old Prince Louis, his 8-year-old daughter Princess Charlotte, and then Kate Middleton were seated beside him. 9-year-old Prince George wasn’t with his family as he was attending the ceremony as a Page of Honour.

King Charles III and Queen Camilla have officially been crowned. On May 6, the royal family waved to the public from the balcony of the Buckingham Palace following the king's coronation ceremony. Charles and Camilla were joined by many members of the royal family, including Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their three kids and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh - Prince Edward and Sophie - and their two children. Prince Harry, however, was noticeably missing from the famous balcony shot.
A tradition initiated by Queen Victoria, the family has stepped onto the palace's balcony after major events since 1851 to greet the public. Though the group is curated for every occasion, the king and queen are typically accompanied by other working royals and their children. Since both Prince Harry and Prince Andrew are no longer working members of the royal family, neither had a formal role in the coronation ceremony nor appeared on the balcony afterwards.

The Duke of Sussex has attended the Coronation of his father, King Charles III, in London on Saturday.
Prince Harry took his seat in the Abbey next to Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank in the third row of the congregation. He sat behind the King’s sister, the Princess Royal and her husband, Vice-Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence, and joined in the general pledge of allegiance to the new monarch.
In contrast to his elder brother William, who kneeled in allegiance to their father, Harry was not expected to play any official part in the ceremonial part of the service, nor appear in the official procession nor on the Royal Balcony at Buckingham Palace following the coronation service at Westminster Abbey.

Harry’s appearance at his father’s coronation follows intense speculation about what role – or lack thereof – the prince would play in proceedings.

Plans and preparations are underway for King Charles III’s coronation on May 6. Some of the questions surrounding the event were about whether Prince Harry and Meghan Markle would be attending and who will be featured on the Buckingham Palace balcony with the new monarch. Well both of those questions have been answered as we now know Harry will attend the ceremony without his wife and the working royals will stand on the balcony with the king.
But for a few of those working royals, this appearance will likely mark one of the last times we’ll see them and therefore will be a final curtain call and thank you for their service.

King Charles III’s coronation is fast approaching and it’s still not known whether Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, will attend. But what we do know is we won’t see them on the famous Buckingham Palace balcony with other members of the royal family if they do choose to attend.
It’s been reported that the Sussexes are being banned from the balcony because they are no longer working royals. However, some were left confused by that reason since King Charles is allowing one non-working royal to appear with him and other members of the Firm on the balcony.

Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, have not yet confirmed if they will attend King Charles III’s coronation. Many royal watchers believed that Harry and Meghan’s attendance depended on whether a list of demands they had would be met. This speculation began after the Duke of Sussex said during an interview in January that a lot needed to be discussed and he hoped his family would have those talks with him before he committed to going.
While the king is said too busy to organize a meeting with his youngest son before the event on May 6, another demand the couple reportedly put forth is to be featured with their children on the Buckingham Palace balcony following the coronation ceremony. That demand too has been denied, and now Prince Harry’s biographer believes the Sussexes are “furious” they won’t be included in that big moment.

Prince Louis joining Prince William and Kate Middleton at King Charles III’s coronation would be more than witnessing history in the making and seeing his grandfather crowned. A commentator says attending the ceremony may prevent the Prince and Princess of Wales’s youngest child from someday becoming an “offshoot” of his uncle, Prince Harry.

According to royal commentator Angela Mollard, William and Kate will want to include Louis in the coronation. That way, the four-year-old — who will be five by the time of the ceremony — won’t feel left out.
Furthermore, it plays to William and Kate’s family “brand” of togetherness with their three kids; Prince George, 9, Princess Charlotte, 7, and Louis.

A body language expert has called one couple in the British royal family an “oasis of calm.” However, it’s not King Charles III and Camilla Parker Bowles. Instead, it’s the monarch’s youngest sibling, Prince Edward, and his wife, Sophie.

Instead of the dazzling, gem-encrusted rings commonly seen among the royal family, Princess Anne and her daughter, Zara Tindall, both opted for more modest engagement rings that exude their own individual brilliance.
Lavish engagement rings, like the one worn by Kate Middleton, are not unusual in the ranks of the royal family. While the royals certainly have the means to justify expensive jewelry, Anne and Zara ultimately picked style over luxury. Here’s a closer look at Anne and Zara’s low-key engagement rings.

Princess Anne crossed paths with Timothy Laurence, a Royal Navy commander, during his time on the Royal Yacht Britannia. Although the couple tied the knot in late 1992, they were forced to hold a low-key wedding ceremony in Scotland due to the Church of England’s prohibition on remarriage following divorce.

When we see members of the royal family out and about in public, they’re usually always smiling. However, experts pointed out that many times their body language and demeanor can show something different than being so happy no matter how much they smile.
This was the case when one expert noticed the late Queen Elizabeth II‘s “favorite grandson” was faking smiles in photos with his ex.

The storylines in the fifth season of The Crown have provoked much backlash, from scenes showing the former Prince Charles trying to force the Queen’s abdication to others suggesting Prince Philip was unfaithful to the late monarch.
Prominent figures, including Judi Dench, have demanded that the drama carry a disclaimer to make clear that the events of the series aren’t entirely factual. While The Crown actor Jonathan Pryce, has called these reactions to the show “hugely disappointing”, claiming that viewers know it’s a drama, not a documentary.

Among the many controversies that gripped the British Royal Family during the 1990s was one that would only come to light almost two decades later, when Prince Andrew’s friendship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and his partner Ghislaine Maxwell (who was convicted of sex trafficking last December) was eventually exposed in the press.
The scandal, which metastasized after Prince Andrew was sued in a civil court for sexual assault by Virginia Giuffre, one of Epstein’s victims, destroyed his public standing. His mother, Queen Elizabeth II, stripped him of his many patronages and military titles before she died and, despite denying any wrongdoing and ultimately settling with Giuffre, Andrew is still effectively banished from public life.
But for James Murray, who plays Prince Andrew in Season 5 of “The Crown,” there was no apprehension about stepping into the disgraced royal’s buffed shoes. “My thoughts were, ‘Great, fantastic,’” Murray tells Variety.

Queen Elizabeth II’s State Funeral: World Tunes In to Say Goodbye to U.K.’s Longest-Reigning Monarch
Click here to read the full article.
The state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II — likely to be one of the most watched events in history and an occasion that was carried out with intricate, military precision throughout — has come to an end.
The conclusion of a grand spectacle, the likes of which the U.K. is unlikely to put on again for a very long time, saw the queen’s coffin lowered into the royal vault beneath St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle, where King George III, IV and V, William IV and others also lie. Last year, Prince Philip, the queen’s husband, was laid to rest there. Later on in the evening of Sep. 19, the royal family announced that the queen had been buried “together with the Duke of Edinburgh at The King George VI Memorial Chapel” in a private funeral service, away from the cameras.

It’s an emotional day for the royal family. Queen Elizabeth II’s coffin was taken from Buckingham Palace on Wednesday and a procession including King Charles III, Prince William, Prince Harry, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew, and Prince Edward took to the streets of London to bring it to Westminster Hall.
Once inside Westminster, William and Harry were joined by their wives, Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle, for the Service for the Reception of Her Majesty’s Coffin.

Queen Elizabeth II‘s body has left Buckingham Palace for the last time. Mourners came out in droves on Wednesday to see the historic procession of the late British monarch as her coffin travelled from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall.
Somberly walking behind Her Majesty’s casket was her son, King Charles III, and two grandsons, Prince William and Prince Harry.
Other royals included in the procession were Elizabeth’s other children, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew, and Prince Edward. Both Harry and Andrew were not wearing their military uniforms as both have stepped down as senior members of the royal family in recent years.
On Tuesday, a spokesperson for the Duke of Sussex released a statement to royal reporters about Harry’s reaction to not being allowed to wear his uniform despite his decade of service.

Queen Elizabeth II is dead at age 96 after serving the United Kingdom and Commonwealth as Sovereign for 70 years.
The British monarch and Head of State was placed under medical supervision starting September 8, Buckingham Palace confirmed.
“Following further evaluation this morning, the Queen’s doctors are concerned for Her Majesty’s health and have recommended that she remain under medical supervision,” the palace said in a statement. The Queen was not hospitalized at the time and remained at her Scottish Highlands estate, Balmoral Castle.
The queen reportedly looked “frail” after meeting with incoming British Prime Minister Liz Truss on September 5. Truss took to Twitter to share her concern over the queen’s health following their meeting.
“The whole country will be deeply concerned by the news from Buckingham Palace this lunchtime,” Truss tweeted. “My thoughts — and the thoughts of people across our United Kingdom — are with Her Majesty The Queen and her family at this time.

The June 2 reenactment of royal tradition “The Balcony Wave” will have some prominent cast members missing.
“After careful consideration, the Queen has decided this year’s traditional Trooping the Colour balcony appearance on Thursday, 2 June, will be limited to Her Majesty, and those members of the royal family who are currently undertaking official public duties on behalf of the Queen,” according to a palace statement.
That means no Prince Andrew, no Harry, no Meghan Markle, as all are no longer considered “working” royals.
The traditional balcony appearance by the royals is part of the opening celebrations for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee next month, celebrating her 70 years of service. Speculation about who would be joining the 96-year-old monarch swirled, as Andrew (legal problems) and Harry/Meghan (family problems) are no longer making appearances on behalf of the Queen.
Whether the Queen herself will be on the balcony is an open question.
