Bong Joon Ho fans have been anxiously awaiting a first look at some footage from the Award-winning Parasite director's next project for quite a while, and the first teaser trailer for Mickey 17 was released earlier this week.
Now, an international version has found its way online, and while a lot of the footage is the same (minus the Sinatra tune), there are quite a few new shots.
The (supposedly loose) adaptation of Edward Ashton’s best-selling novel, Mickey7, stars Robert Pattinson (The Batman) as the title character, who is repeatedly cloned to help with the colonization of a dangerous ice-planet.
Naomi Ackie, Steven Yeun, Toni Collette and Mark Ruffalo also star.
This trailer gives us a better idea of what to expect, as Mickey 17 joins forces with his latest clone, Mickey 18, in an attempt to stay alive when Mark Ruffalo's villain declares that all "multiples" - including the original - must be destroyed.

James Earl Jones’ iconic voice was among his many gifts as a performer. With the actor having died this week at 93, it remains to be seen whether that voice could appear in new projects, particularly from the Star Wars franchise.
One of Jones’ signature roles was providing the voice of Darth Vader, which he originated in 1977’s Star Wars and continued throughout the initial trilogy before reprising the character in 2016’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and 2019’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Although Jones was not involved in the 2022 Disney+ series Obi Wan-Kenobi, his voice was used, with Skywalker Sound editor Matthew Wood telling Vanity Fair at the time that the actor had quietly retired from the role but signed over rights to his archival voice work.

Can you imagine a world without the iconic voice of James Earl Jones? Not only would the galaxy far, far away lose its formidable Darth Vader, but Disney’s Pride Rock would lack the gravitas of Mufasa. Born with a bass voice so powerful it could practically move mountains, the late actor didn’t just act—he embodied each role he took on, creating a legendary career that spanned over several decades.

So, with Jones’ track record, should we really be surprised that Jon Favreau found himself a bit daunted when directing the legend to reprise his role as Mufasa in Disney’s 2019 remake of The Lion King?

According to insiders, Disney may be decreasing its Star Wars TV output over the next couple of years.
Since the release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker in 2019, the space-faring franchise has been exclusively bound to the small screen.
Every year since then, the galaxy far, far away has released an average of two live-action streaming series a year on Disney+, the most recent of which was the polarizing The Acolyte which ended its one-season run in July.

The California state Senate has passed a law that requires consent for the use of dead performers’ likenesses for AI-created digital replicas.
SAG-AFTRA has been among the organizations championing the legislation as a means of helping the estates of deceased performers maintain some control over AI-created fakes and replicas of famous figures. The union was quick to herald the passage of Ab 1836 in a statement after the Senate moved on the bill in an unusual Saturday session.
The passage of Ab 1836, which now awaits the signature of Gov. Gavin Newsom, comes four days after the state Senate passed Ab 2602, which toughens the consent requirements for the use of AI to replicate living performers.

Since Disney acquired Lucasfilm, the Star Wars universe has frequently found itself at the center of major controversies, most recently with a toxic “fan” campaign against The Acolyte. But this behavior has deeper roots that go beyond The Acolyte, as highlighted by a story from the filming of Star Wars: Episode IX — The Rise of Skywalker.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, actress Naomi Ackie, who played Jannah in The Rise of Skywalker, discussed how she successfully avoided racial abuse from certain so-called “fans” of the franchise, who often target people of color.

George Lucas’ Star Wars franchise is a pillar of modern science fiction. What started out as a relatively ambitious space opera project became one of the most lucrative and popular franchises in history. Being present for several decades now, Star Wars has raised multiple generations of fans and it still remains one of the best fictional universes ever created.
But, after Disney’s acquisition of Lucasfilm, the whole fictional universe has been at the center of big controversies more often than not, which culminated with the toxic “fan” campaign against The Acolyte. Blink Twice and The End of the F...ing World star Naomi Ackie played Jannah in 2019's Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, a character it's widely believed was meant to be revealed as Lando Calrissian's lost daughter before reshoots changed that.

After receiving extreme backlash and a divisive response, the Disney Plus show, The Acolyte, has officially been canceled. The Star Wars show reportedly had a budget of $180 million but failed to get the required viewership numbers for a series of that scale.
Despite the majority of the fans celebrating the move, some were quick to defend the show, saying that some shows needed more seasons to develop to their full potential. The fans seemed to compare it with the classic Breaking Bad, which took off in the second season. However, at its peak, Breaking Bad’s budget was only $3 million per episode.

This article contains Alien: Romulus and The Flash spoilers.
The reviews are in, and some fans are already holding Fede Alvarez’s Alien: Romulus up as the best xenomorph feature since Ridley Scott’s 1979 original and James Cameron’s Aliens from 1986. It feels like a new era of the Alienverse is ready to burst forward from Hollywood’s chest. But while there’s plenty of praise for Alvarez’s back-to-basics approach, which tries to capture the pulse-pounding horror of Scott’s Alien, it’s not quite a perfect outing.
As well as some criticizing the suitably batshit ending that echoes Alien Resurrection’s bewildering finale, it’s the return of Ian Holm’s likeness that’s causing a stir for Romulus—namely because the actor tragically passed away in 2020. Despite a CGI approximation of “Holm” appearing in the role of a new android called Rook instead of Alien‘s Ash,...

Naomi Ackie fondly remembers filming late-night dance montages with her Blink Twice castmates in Yucatán, Mexico. As the Dixie Cups’ island-inflected version of “Iko Iko” blared, the actors, covered in glitter, frolicked, squealed, and cheesed into the camera. But in this nightmarish thriller (out Aug. 23), which marks Zoë Kravitz’s directorial debut, the party scenes hide something much darker. Channing Tatum’s tech billionaire Slater invites strangers to his private island for a hedonistic bacchanal — and every morning, the female guests wake up with a wiped memory, mystery bruises, and dirt under their nails.

“The Acolyte” will not return for Season 2.
Lucasfilm has elected not to continue with the “Star Wars” Disney+ series following its first season, which depicted the rise of the Sith roughly 100 years before the events of “Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.”
The news comes at once as a shock, given how much of the Season 1 finale ended on a cliffhanger and teased several plotlines for a Season 2, and not much of a surprise, given the wildly opposing reception from fans and the less-than-robust viewership that appeared to drop off after the series premiere in June.

David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Don Granger will produce for Skydance, while Toru Nakahara, who has overseen the adaptation of Sega’s Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, will produce for the video game producer.
Originally released in 1993, Eternal Champions was a fighting game that Sega developed and published for the Sega Genesis console. The concept, bear with us, was thus: In order to change the dire fate of Earth, a being known as the Eternal Champion marshals the souls of key humans from across history, people who were destined for greatness but died before fulfilling their promise. The individuals are thrown into a contest of champions, with the winner regaining their life and becoming the hero Earth needs in order to restore balance,...

Percy Jackson and the Olympians star Walker Scobell worked with Shawn Levy and Ryan Reynolds on Netflix's The Adam Project. It wasn't overly surprising then that rumours quickly swirled about him playing Deadpool & Wolverine's Kidpool.
That didn't happen and Inez Reynolds (Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively's daughter) was instead tapped to lend her voice to the foul-mouthed Variant. Levy has since confirmed that Scobell was considered for the role, admitting the teenager aged out of the part when he hit puberty.
Now, Scobell has broken his silence on his MCU near-miss. "There was a little bit of talks, like maybe Kidpool, or like Teen[pool], or something like that," he says in the video below. "But, I grow a lot, and I'm super busy with Percy, and it didn't make sense for the time."
"Shawn [Levy] gave me a call about it, which, it's crazy that they were even thinking of me for that.

“The Mandalorian and Grogu” doesn’t hit theaters until 2026, but as director Jon Favreau pointed out, this is the last D23 before the movie opens – so they had to bring something to the adoring fans at the Honda Center. And since they have only been shooting the movie for a few weeks, they didn’t have a ton of footage – but they still brought something.
The footage that was screened during the presentation showed the Mandalorian (once again voiced by Pedro Pascal) on a snow planet, walking into a room and killing a bunch of snow troopers. There was voice over from Pascal saying that, since he took Grogu on as an apprentice, he would be more selective in the assignments that he agreed to.

Daisy Ridley has revealed that she has been diagnosed with Graves’ disease while speaking with Women’s Health.
Graves’ disease is an autoimmune disorder that leads to an overactive thyroid gland. The Star Wars actress said that she was diagnosed last September after experiencing some strange symptoms during the production of Magpie, a psychological thriller about a married couple who find their lives turned upside down.
“I thought, ‘Well, I’ve just played a really stressful role; presumably that’s why I feel poorly,’” said Ridley. After experiencing symptoms which included a racing heart rate, weight loss, fatigue, and hand tremors, Ridley was encouraged to see an endocrinologist, who said that Graves’ can make one feel “tired but wired.” Ridley realized that she had also been feeling super irritable among her other symptoms. “It was funny, I was like ‘Oh, I just thought I was annoyed at the world,’” she said,...

Jenna Ortega and Glen Powell are two stars who know a thing or two about legacy sequels. Ortega has helped spearhead the latest Scream reboot in recent years and is about to star in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, whilst Powell has proven his movie star chops with standout turns in the likes of Top Gun: Maverick and Twisters. But, according to Deadline, it looks like the duo are set to leave franchise fare behind to team up on the latest film from J.J. Abrams. Per the trade's reporting, Ortega and Powell are both in final talks to board Abrams' as-yet-untitled latest movie at Warner Bros.
It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say we know next to nothing about what Abrams is cooking up over at his Bad Robot HQ at this point, beyond the fact the Star Wars: Episode IX — The Rise Of Skywalker director has written the script himself and — as...

Jenna Ortega is in talks to join Glen Powell in J.J. Abrams’ forthcoming, untitled Warner Bros. movie.
Ortega will next be seen in Warner Bros.’ “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” and would star alongside Powell, whose summer blockbuster “Twisters” (a Warner Bros. co-production) is nearing the $200 million domestic mark.
Not much is known about Abrams’ new film except that it is not a time travel movie (as had been previously speculated) and that Abrams both wrote the script and will be directing. The project will be produced by Abrams and his production company Bad Robot.
Ortega, in addition to returning for the second season of “Wednesday,” recently finished filming Taika Waititi’s “Klara and the Sun,” A24’s “Death of a Unicorn” and an untitled film directed by Trey Edward Shults. “Wednesday,” it’s worth noting, is the most-watched Netflix series of all time. As expected, Disney/Marvel Studios’ “Deadpool & Wolverine” is soaring high at the box office, scoring an unbelievable $38.5 million from Thursday preview screenings.
It’s the highest preview total ever for an R-rated film, and the eighth highest for any film in domestic box office history. With this start, “Deadpool & Wolverine” is in strong position to become the ninth film in history and sixth from Marvel Studios to earn a $200 million-plus domestic launch.
“Deadpool & Wolverine” has been well reviewed by critics, sporting an 80% score on Rotten Tomatoes. But even if it was panned, there is no stopping this film as fans at preview screenings have been gushing over its references to Fox-produced Marvel films much as they did for “Spider-Man: No Way Home” and its references to the webslinger’s cinematic history.
It’s still too early to nail down just how high “D&w” will reach, as...

Spoiler Alert: This post contains spoilers from “The Acolyte” finale.
The first season of the Disney+ television series “The Acolyte” ends on a triumphant moment for the Sith. Manny Jacinto’s Sith Lord known as the Stranger (or Qimir as he’s called before his Sith reveal) has successfully gained a student to teach in all things the dark side. The heel turn is that his student is Osha (Amandla Stenberg), who started the series with ties to the Jedi and who many viewers might’ve clocked as the heroic protagonist of the show alongside her former Jedi master Sol (Lee Jung-jae).
In the season finale of “The Acolyte,” Osha chokes Sol to death using the Force after she finds out that he killed her mother years ago. It’s a moment of rage that pulls Osha closer to the dark side. She had already been teetering between light and dark all season,...

The Charlize Theron action film The Old Guard was a hit for the Netflix streaming service when it was released in 2020, but the sequel The Old Guard 2 has had an unexpectedly bumpy ride while making its way out into the world. It went into production back in 2022, and filming had to be halted briefly after a fire broke out at the film studio where the movie had been shooting; Rome, Italy’s historic Cinecittà Studios. Then there was a shake-up at Netflix during post-production, so the project got shut down for a while – but Theron has told Variety that The Old Guard 2 is now back on track and coming soon.
Theron said, “Netflix went through quite a changeover. We got kind of stuck in that and our post-production shut down, I think, five weeks into it. They were going through a lot of changes, and I totally understand it.

Star Wars Outlaws will deliver a level of freedom many didn’t expect from the Star Wars universe. Players will be able to experience the open world in a way that goes beyond planet surfaces.
According to an interview from GamesRadar, the most important thing about Star Wars Outlaws is its open-world design, which goes beyond just exploring planets. The developers knew that traveling through space was a really big part of the fun of Star Wars. Players will get to fly their own spaceship and easily go from one planet to another using hyperspace, so they can feel like they’re traveling through space in real-time. That is hopefully more fun than it sounds, because Star Citizen and No Man’s Sky are great examples of how that can be a drag.

Twisters releases in theaters on July 17th in Europe and July 19th in the US.
Usually, predictable, generic films full of clichés end up suffering from these characteristics, often seen as negative aspects. Personally, I endorse the theory that execution can turn a fantastic idea into a terrible movie, just as it can tremendously elevate a mere variation of a worn-out premise. I also believe that films can perfectly be what they’re expected to be – nothing more, nothing less. Disaster flicks are known precisely for the attributes mentioned above, but they possess a layer of simple, straightforward entertainment that wins over audiences and critics worldwide. And there’s nothing wrong with that.
It’s, indeed, a special genre. So much so that we’re getting a standalone sequel to a 1996 classic, Twister. Jan de Bont’s original movie inspired Lee Isaac Chung (Minari) and Mark L. Smith (The Revenant...

Prime Video's Batman: Caped Crusader looks set to put a completely new spin on the iconic DC Comics character. However, when the series was first announced, many fans hoped it might serve as a continuation of Batman: The Animated Series.
After all, it had been confirmed that producers Matt Reeves (The Batman) and J.J. Abrams (Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker) would be joined by the creative mastermind behind the classic series, Bruce Timm.
Instead, the show - which was offloaded by Warner Bros. Discovery to Amazon after originally being developed for Max as part of a series of cost-cutting measures - will take us to 1940s Gotham City and "Week Two" of Bruce Wayne's time as Batman.
Talking to Empire Magazine (via Toonado.com), Timm revealed that Batman: Caped Crusader will make a major change to Bruce's transformation into a masked vigilante...specifically in regards to when he chooses to suit up.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is No Longer Part of Disney’s Top 10 All-Time US Box Office List - Main Image
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker has been pushed out of an exclusive Disney box office list five years after its theatrical release.
The last installment in the sequel trilogy notably had a divisive reception among both the critics and fans. Despite that, it was still a box office success as it reached the billion-dollar mark and became one of the highest-grossing Disney films of all time in the US.
Disney's box office list remained untouched for the last five years as the studio struggled in the post-covid-19 era. Now, it has changed thanks to a new juggernaut that is currently ruling the theatrical space.

Colin Trevorrow would have dabbled in yet another classic franchise after Jurassic World if things went as planned. The filmmaker was hired to direct the final part of the Star Wars sequel trilogy and had even written a script along with frequent collaborator Derek Connolly. However, after creative differences, Trevorrow left the project, and J.J. Abrams took over.
While Trevorrow has not commented much on the abandoned film, his script Star Wars: Duel of Fates was leaked and many fans considered it to be an upgrade from Abrams’ The Rise of Skywalker. However, one line from the script seems to have angered fans as it dismisses the lore of the Jedi established by George Lucas.
