Removal of Peter II of Argos

[edit]

For the removal of Peter II of Argos, and the similar aliases/labels in the other 3 languages, please check my comment in Catalan Wikipedia, which seems to be the origin of that name.
In short, there's no mention anywhere on the Internet about that name, and the only source that article has, makes no mention that would denote that these two people are the same (Peter the bishop of Argos, and Peter the writer and diplomat). Jimkats (talk) 01:01, 31 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Petrus Siculus vs. Petrus Argivus

[edit]

Hi @Jimkats: Thanks for adding the IxTheo authority ID. Can you check if this is the right person? Maybe GND/CERL/IxTheo should be moved to Peter the Wonderworker (Q12872183). --Kolja21 (talk) 17:09, 7 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hm, no answer. @Epìdosis: Can you take a look? --Kolja21 (talk) 01:54, 9 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Kolja21: in my opinion https://d-nb.info/gnd/100958168 is a conflation between the two persons and it should be disentangled; most of the works should be attributed to Petrus Siculus. I can help of course if needed to attribute the titles; first of all we need two separate authority records. Epìdosis 07:05, 9 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Since the main name is "Petrus, Argivus" (ca. 850-922) I would move the IDs and then file a report. Can you name me two titles from this list: Bibliotheksverbund Bayern? This would be enough. The rest of the work should be done by the library. --Kolja21 (talk) 07:18, 9 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Omelie contro i Pauliciani and Petri Siculi Historia Manichaeorum seu Paulicianorum are surely by Petrus Siculus; in fact nearly all the works in BSB are probably by Petrus Siculus instead of Petrus Argivus. --Epìdosis 07:41, 9 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Good to know! So I will not move the IDs and file a report. Thanks like always. --Kolja21 (talk) 07:43, 9 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Kolja21: and @Epìdosis:, sorry I forgot to reply earlier. In general, many of the identifiers have issues because they refer to both Petrus Siculus and Petrus Argivus, with wrong info, thus there were many wrong identifiers especially in Peter the Wonderworker (Q12872183). In theory, the problematic identifiers which refer to both of those, shouldn't be added, but because at some point people will add them regardless, I guess it's better to have them, but with deprecated rank and error (Q29485) for reason for deprecated rank (P2241). I'm not sure how easy is to contact the platforms which have those problematic identifiers so to fix their data, but I wouldn't give much hope.--Jimkats (talk) 15:06, 17 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
