Speedy deletion of Image:Dungula plan.png
editHi
- Why did you put this image in the speedy deletion category, please explain it using the Speedydelete template.
Regards, Barcex 15:06, 2 June 2006 (UTC)
Hi, I have drawn a better version. I wanted to overwrite it, but ended up with three slightly different versions of the same map. I think it's better to delete the whole case and I will provide a new map with two versions: 1. with English and 2. one with German captions. best wishes Udimu 17:14, 2 June 2006 (UTC)
Please upload the new version first and then simply put new name at the old image and state that your're the author. Arnomane 21:39, 3 June 2006 (UTC)
Licensing
editHi there, I noticed you've uploaded a number of images and licensed them under the GNU General Public License. This license was designed for software and is not really the best license to use for images. Can I suggest you change the relevant images to a more appropriate license, possibly using the GFDL tag? --Daduzi 22:36, 12 June 2006 (UTC)
okay, many thanks, yes, I will do that. :-) Udimu 22:38, 12 June 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:Udimu.png. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use to release it under the Creative Commons or PD-self to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. You uploaded this image which you claim to be your own work. On the upload page you agreed to place it under a Free license but did not specify which one. Please do so by replacing the OwnWork tag with a suitable copyright tag. ← Körnerbrötchen - @ 15:39, 26 March 2007 (UTC)
Re: Anlamani vs. Aspelta
editJust wanted to thank you for setting me straight on the identification of the statue and close-up. I double-checked my original photos, as I also took pics of the accompanying text along with each photo I took. Turns out I had mixed up the pics of Aspelta with one across the room of Anlamani which is in a more fragmentary state (which I have yet to process/upload). Thanks for taking the time to set the record straight. Cheers! Captmondo 01:10, 10 April 2007 (UTC)
- no problems;-) BTW. Do you have more pics of Nubian objects? I am writing a lot on ancient Nubia in the German wiki, but pictures are urgently missing. Greetings -- Udimu 06:36, 10 April 2007 (UTC)
- You might find a few more things in the many pics I have taken on my tours through major Egptian collections over the past few months. Best place to start would be to go to my gallery page (http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Captmondo/gallery). There are certainlya few more images of Nubian pharaohs in there if you go looking.
I still have some images to process from my travels, and if there's is anything else that I think might be of interest to you, I will let you know.
Cheers!
- I saw your pictures already some weeks ago and used them a lot for Ancient Egypt. Great work! Udimu 06:36, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

Need help...
editHi Udimu
I've uploaded a plan and some 3D views of Tanis, specially from the royal necropolis and from the precinct of Amun. I try to translate the legend in english and then in german but i'm not sure about the result. Here are the three in german.
File:Königliche Nekropolis von Tanis.jpg
Could you check them? If there are some mistakes i would upload news and better versions.
I'm also interested of your point of view. Your remarks and suggestions are welcome !
Thanks for you help. Neithsabes 20:32, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
Hi Neithsabes, these are indeed very nice maps (will write something more on Tanis, on the German wikidepedia;-)
Here are my comments/suggestions, perhaps also ask another German native speaker:
- Plan_von_Tanis
- heiliger See (not Heilige See)
- koenigliche Nekropole (not Koenigliche Nekropolis - do not have Umlaut on my keyboard, so write oe with o with two dots)
- Muteinfriedung
- Amuneingfriedung
The star for the North, South, West, East is also not correct; on the next picture it is fine.
- K%C3%B6nigliche_Nekropolis_von_Tanis
- NRT II: anonymes Grab - es wird dem Pami zugeschrieben
Greetings -- Udimu 21:14, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you for help!! Danke für Hilfe!!
- I downloaded the new versions of both plans with the corrections.
- Feel free to use them or to ask me for other sights of other sites ;o)
- Actually, i try to work on Saïs but it is not easy because of little of archaeological data on this city. Have you information on its subject (except Lepsius and the others)?
- Thank you very much. Begrüssungen Neithsabes 23:20, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
Hallo Neithsabes
for Sais, you might try (do you have access to a good library, that's always the main problem??) Penelope Wilson, The survey of Saïs (Sa el-Hagar) 1997-2002, London 2006. It's the latest and certainly the best book on the site. best wishes -- Udimu 08:17, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Udimu
- Thanks for this information ; there is several good libraries in Paris but i don't know if they have this publication. I will see next week. I read a lot about Sais but nothing new about its main temple. Hope there is something about in Wilson's book.
- Bis bald ;o) Neithsabes 15:36, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Neithsabes,
the Neith temple at Sais (Neith? is that your favourite goddess?;-) is very much destroyed, so do not expect too much. Let me know whether you can find the book, if not, I should have access to that book and could send you a scan. Best wishes -- Udimu 17:05, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
- Guten Abend Udimu :o)
- Neith is one of my favorite indeed, but in fact my name is Sebastien and if you write it in the other side you obtain neit(h)sabes :o) I find it perfect for a nickname specially in an egyptian way.
- About Saïs i found for now only a brief description of the ruins of the main enclosure in Champollion letters or journal of his first and last travel in Egypt, and in Lepsius Denkmaler too. I've found also some interesting informations in El-Sayed books on Neith and her cult. We have then data about the primitive sanctuary of Neith which seems still existing in this form in the later times. Of course pharaohs from each period added more monuments and for sure extended the temple of the goddess. Actually nothing remains from these buildings...
- But if we mix Herodote description with the old and recent archeological data may be we could have an good idea of what was Saïs...
- Anyway it's could be interesting to do it in 3D even if it's only an essay.
- Thank you for your proposition. I will tell you if i find it ;o) Neithsabes 00:45, 26 May 2008 (UTC)
News
editHi Udimu !
Just want to let you know about my last virtual work on Napata Amun temple here and here.
I tried to collect all the informations i have about it and made a first work and first shots. Please tell me if there is any error (especially about columns, i'm not sure of their style...).
Greetings from Paris ;o) Neithsabes (talk) 18:25, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
- wow, that's looks nice!!! I might look at the publication for the temple, otherwise, in the moment it looks fine for me (next time, for a message, go on my German account, I am not often here on Commons). best wishes -- Udimu (talk) 11:48, 23 August 2008 (UTC)
There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful informations about the image, it's not a valid license. Could you please resolve this problem, adding the license in the image linked above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which license to choose. Thank you.

Tip: Categorizing images
edit
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.BotMultichillT 06:17, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

Dura Europos Synagogue fresco
editHi Udimu. A while ago you uploaded an image of a fresco excavated from the Dura-Europos Synagogue. I have included the image in the English Wiki article Parthian Empire, which is now a featured article candidate. A User:Jappalang has asked on the FAC page about the source for this image. For example, is it a scan from an academic book? A photo taken by you at Yale University's History of Art Department? Or from somebody's online web page? I would like to know as soon as possible, since this issue is holding up my nomination. Thank you.--PericlesofAthens (talk) 13:35, 25 May 2010 (UTC)
- this is very long time ago, but I think the picture was orginally on the English wiki (see here: [1], where that image was on the English wiki, but later deleted). I uploaded it on Wikicommons because I needed it for a German article. In general, I think the picture must be a scan from the publication of the synagoge (C. H. Kraeling: The excavations at Dura-Europos: conducted by Yale University and the French Academy of Inscriptions and Letters, Final report 8 Part 1, The synagogue, New Haven: Yale University Press, 1956). Hope that helps, Best wishes -- Udimu (talk) 16:38, 25 May 2010 (UTC)
File tagging File:Dongola.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Dongola.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the No permission since tag with on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded (:File:Dongola.jpg ) and the above demanded information in your request. |
File:Udimu.png has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.
If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. Dear Udimu,
Maybe you can consider using this image on Deutsch wiki. I am certain it is Tefnakht I and not Tefnakht II. Best Regards, --Leoboudv (talk) 18:51, 5 April 2011 (UTC)
- many thanks for informing me. I can't really see the inscription to judge which Tefnakht that is (it is also not really my Period;-) best wishes
-- Udimu (talk) 20:20, 6 April 2011 (UTC)
- Comment: Its not a problem. The king is certainly Shepsesre Tefnakht. The only question is whether it is Tefnakht I or II. Manetho is a problem: he names a Stephinates--who is most likely this king--a reign of 7 years--but does not connect him with Bocchoris. It is a bit strange. But its almost impossible to see Taharqa allowing an independent local king to rule at Sais during his reign. It was only after his defeat and withdrawal from the Delta region of Lower Egypt by the Assyrians did Necho I first appear at Sais. Taharqa allowed local kings at other cities to exist but Sais is a different situation because this city directly challenged Kushite rule under his father--Piye. Thank You, --Leoboudv (talk) 00:23, 9 April 2011 (UTC)
- many thanks. I placed the stela into the German article for that king (and also found it in a catalogue for the Museum in Athens). best wishes -- Udimu (talk) 16:04, 22 April 2011 (UTC)

Hi, have a look at search tool and it will help, i.e. Balash --Odysses (talk) 07:01, 14 October 2013 (UTC)
- many thanks, I found most of the coins. They are sometimes under slightly different names in the database. Therefore not always easy to find. bw -- Udimu (talk) 09:35, 16 October 2013 (UTC)

Copyright status: File:Mesdjeru.png
editThis media may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading File:Mesdjeru.png. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.
If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with GFDL to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with PD-self to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.) If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there. Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you. |

- this was already fully discussed. These pictures all have a license. I am not sure what is going on! -- Udimu (talk) 15:32, 9 November 2017 (UTC)
- They never had a valid license, they have been in Category:Files with no machine-readable license from the moment of upload. I have tried to fix that after the DR closure, but two different admins disagreed and removed the license again. Jcb (talk) 15:55, 9 November 2017 (UTC)
- I am not firm with that legal stuff. The pictures were discussed. It was basically agreed that the museum released the pictures into the public domain. So, it would be good to find somebody able to write a proper licence?? -- Udimu (talk) 16:02, 9 November 2017 (UTC)
- The template has to contain a license recognized by the system. I added one, but it was reverted by another admin, who later did another attempt, which was reverted by a third admin, leaving the files again with no license. Maybe the best thing to do is to write the university to ask them to clarify the situation. If you send them a message with a CC to permissions-commons at wikimedia.org, you will receive an autoreply with a ticket number from us. If you give me this ticket number, I can tag the files to keep them only at least another 30 days, so that there will be some time to sort things out. Jcb (talk) 16:10, 9 November 2017 (UTC)
- okay, I will write to the museum. Might take some days, so do not delete right now. best wishes -- Udimu (talk) 16:46, 9 November 2017 (UTC)
- The current tag should keep them online for at least 7 days from now. Jcb (talk) 16:50, 9 November 2017 (UTC)

Mundigak
editHi. I've uploaded some pictures of objects from Mundigak currently in the Musée Guimet Category:Art of Mundigak in the Musée Guimet and since you seem to have information related to this site, I inform you of these uploads. Unfortunately there was not much information about them in the Museum, even though I could find some clues here https://www.harappa.com/slideshows/mundigak-guimet Regards, Zunkir (talk) 18:03, 22 August 2020 (UTC)
- many thanks! I wrote a bigger article on the Germany Wikipedia, on Mundigak. These pictures are really a big treasure for me. I borrowing the excavation report from my library and shortly after, the lockdown started. So, i can not bring the book back in the moment. Library is still closed. I can identify these objects! Many thanks again! This is really fantastic! -- Udimu (talk) 18:08, 22 August 2020 (UTC)
- I'm glad that you find these pictures useful, and it's good to know that you still have the book. I have some more pictures of objects from Mundigak that I will upload tomorrow, for which I have even less information, feel free to add infos and even rename them if you happen to have more infos. Zunkir (talk) 19:19, 22 August 2020 (UTC)
- that is really great! --Udimu (talk) 20:18, 22 August 2020 (UTC)

In addition, I noticed that you've made a malformed deletion request. Here, Delete is not for speedy deletion, please see COM:DP. When you want to delete a page by manually using the Delete template (rather than using the automatic Nominate for deletion tool in the Tools menu on the sidebar per COM:DR#Starting requests), please remember to follow the instructions in the template, including the "Click here to show further instructions" portion (or Commons:Deletion requests/Listing a request manually), otherwise you will create a lot of work for other people. — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 23:14, 25 December 2021 (UTC)
- talk to me many thanks, it is just a pain searching 20 minutes for the right form. The identical image was already uplaoded before File:Stylized horse and bird, Tomb of Tegermansu I, Eastern Pamirs, Tajikistan, 4th century BCE.jpg, so it is not needed.Udimu (talk) 05:20, 26 December 2021 (UTC)
