I think Canoe1967 has sound knowledge in copyright matters, active in many policy level discussions, and very mellow and generous in comments. Moreover I have a feel that he/she is very impartial in expressing his/her stands. I can say it firmly as we were in opposite sides in many discussions.

• STRONGLY  Oppose My initial encounters with this user was less than pleasant and certainly not the behaviour expected of an admin.

Fry. I consider you a very good graphist but an incredible waste of space otherwise. You beak off far too much on every drama board you can find. IMHO you should focus on your very good skills and stop wasting all of our time elsewhere!--Canoe1967 (talk) 00:40, 22 October 2013 (UTC)

• • They only ever responded to things with "grow up".
  • They edit warred to support personal POV/preference on files, even in cases where there are two different versions with the differing preferences to choose from, causing these files to be edit protected.
  • They removed DR notices from several files multiple times even though the DRs had not been concluded (including after warnings not to).
  • They attempted closing DRs on their own even though they were not an admin and a very new user (having only been on Commons at this point for about 2 months).
  • When I was forced to start an AN/U over the behaviour, Canoe1967 called me a "troll" and accused me of threats for requesting a temporary block (an admin later confirmed that requesting a block is not a threat)
  • They showed a complete disinterest in acknowledging any of the mess they caused by removing all these DR notices from files where the DR was still open.
  • They attempted to mark the AN/U as "resolved" several times to stop any admins from dealing with the matter (it took an admin to tell them they can't).
  • They threatened/joked about being a sockpuppet.
  • They threatened/joked about having "admin friends" to get revenge for non-existent "threats".

In response to Rschen7754's comment, I did a little digging. I implore everyone to heavily consider if they really want to give admin powers to a hothead who only months ago decided they were "gone from the projects", who made threats of "getting their ISP involved" in response to an IP block, who said they have "better things to do than try and improve the project", who is more interested in insulting others than fixing problems, interested in bringing drama from other projects to Commons and who is blissfully ignorant of the fact that Commons is not the place to garnish sympathy for getting your Wiki block overturned.  Oppose Uses often words, which are incompatible with censorship. There is no censorship in Commons, but I think, that admins should generally speak like it exists. Taivo (talk) 09:10, 19 October 2013 (UTC)

•  Oppose I came Canoe1967 across on the Commons talk:Courtesy deletions and other policy-reform discussions. I had a hard time understanding him and felt he lacked a solid understanding of Commons policy and his suggested changes weren't thought through nor demonstrated maturity. I hope to help specifically with complex copyright DRs. File:Nighthawks by Edward Hopper 1942.jpg is one example that was kept. I also hope to help with some of the DRs brought up on moral and scope issues. Category:Wil Wheaton has examples of these. Some images of Mr. Wheaton are simply low quality/out of scope and others may not be very flattering. I would also help in the other areas like backlogs and mediating the drama boards.--Canoe1967 (talk) 14:08, 21 October 2013 (UTC)
