Deutsch: Als Hydrophon (v. griech. hydros „Wasser“ und phone „Stimme, Ton, Laut“) bezeichnet man ein Gerät zur Wandlung von Wasserschall in eine dem Schalldruck entsprechende elektrische Spannung. Eine andere Bezeichnung ist „Unterwassermikrophon“.
English: A hydrophone is a submersible sound sensor. It is analogous to a microphone or an ear for listening to underwater sound.
