Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Portrait of John Colet. Coloured chalks reinforced with pen and ink and silverpoint on pink-primed paper, 26.8 × 20.5 cm, Royal Collection, Windsor Castle.

Holbein based this drawing of John Colet (1467–1519), the humanist scholar and founder of St Paul's School, on a bust by the sculptor Pietro Torrigiano (1472–1528). Other hands have reinforced Holbein's drawing, particularly in the cap. References
