DescriptionNGC 5982.png |
Today's APOD (2013 Oct 16) Featured this galaxy in a photo by Stephen Leshin. The center galaxy of his image, NGC 5982 is an elliptical shell galaxy. I was curious to see if there was any data for the galaxy in the HLA and there was so I (rather hastily) processed it. Processing note: The chip gap was filled with cloned data to make it less distracting. You will notice small background galaxies cut off along its edge. Sorry! It can't be helped. I could lessen the hard lines but I think they are useful for letting people know where real data is absent.
