English: HMS Ark Royal (91), was the third ship of the Royal Navy to carry the name and the second to be an aircraft carrier. She was designed in 1934 to meet the limits of the Washington Naval Treaty, and was built by Cammell Laird and Company, Ltd. at Birkenhead, England.
Deutsch: Die HMS Ark Royal war ein Flugzeugträger der Royal Navy im Zweiten Weltkrieg und das einzige Schiff der Ark-Royal-Klasse. Sie diente von 1938 bis 1941 in der britischen Marine, bis sie am 13. November vor Gibraltar von einem deutschen U-Boot torpediert wurde und einen Tag später sank.

HMS Legion moves alongside the damaged and listing HMS Ark Royal in order to take off survivors. The aircraft carrier was torpedoed by the German U-boat U 81 off Gibraltar.
