edit- 1887 – Michigan Central Railroad opens a new station in Dexter, Michigan.[1]
- 1897 – After a month of repairs following its first day of operation, the Glasgow Subway reopens for regular service.[2]
20th century
edit- 1923 – Canadian National Railway gains control of Grand Trunk Railway.[3]
- 1947 – The Baltimore and Ohio Railroad inaugurates the Cincinnatian passenger train between Baltimore, Maryland, and Cincinnati, Ohio.
- 1970 – Passenger service on what will become the RER A line in Paris is inaugurated between La Défense and Charles de Gaulle - Étoile stations.
- 1990 – Canadian National Railway spins off track between Moncton, New Brunswick, and Mont-Joli, Quebec to the New Brunswick East Coast Railway and the Matapedia Railway.[3]
- 1996 – Union Pacific Railroad announces its intention to sell the Colony Line in South Dakota and Wyoming to the Dakota, Minnesota and Eastern Railroad.[4]

edit- 2006 – Canadian National Railway re-acquires the Central Western Railway, Lakeland and Waterways Railway and Mackenzie Northern Railway from RailAmerica.[3]
