Reference #3 is a deadlink, it currently points to https://gmweek.union.rpi.edu/history.php. As the webmaster of this site, I can confirm that not only does this link not work, it is not supposed to work either. I am not updating this reference to the actual history page on that website as the entire page cites this article and is neither a primary nor secondary source. There is a book about RPI traditions written by an RPI professor, which is where I believe this information originated from, but I am unable to confirm this with enough certainty to change this citation.
