Henrik Mikael Johansson (born 23 February 1998) is a Swedish professional footballer who plays for Laholms FK as a left winger. He is a product of the Halmstads BK academy and was capped by Sweden at U19 level.
Club career
editHalmstads BK
editA winger, Johansson began his career in his native Sweden with alternate spells at the Halmstads BK and IF Centern academies,[3] before joining Halmstads BK on a permanent basis and progressing to turn professional in 2015.[4] He rejected a new three-year contract at the end of the 2016 season and departed in January 2017,[5] having failed to win a call into the first team squad during 18 months as a professional at the Örjans Vall.[4]
Brentford
editIn December 2016, Johansson joined the B team at English Championship club Brentford on trial and on 10 January 2017, he transferred permanently to Griffin Park a 2+1⁄2-year contract for an undisclosed fee.[4] Within two weeks of his transfer, Johansson had helped the B team to win the 2017 Kai Thor Cup,[6] but he was ruled out for 13 months after suffering a muscle tear during a match versus Reading U23 on 1 February 2017.[7][8][9] He made his comeback as a late substitute in a 3–1 victory over Manchester United U23 on 20 March 2018,[8] but he subsequently suffered another injury and did not return to match play until 7 November 2018,[10][11] when he scored a late penalty in a 6–0 win over Reading U23.[12] Johansson finished the 2018–19 season with 25 appearances, four goals and received a medal for his contribution to the B team's successful 2018–19 Middlesex Senior Cup campaign.[9][13] After 2+1⁄2 injury-plagued years at Griffin Park, Johansson's contract was cancelled on 7 June 2019.[9][14]
Trelleborgs FF
editOn 11 July 2019, Johansson returned to Sweden to sign a 2+1⁄2-year contract with Superettan club Trelleborgs FF on a free transfer.[15] Over the course of the following 2+1⁄2 seasons, he made 31 appearances.[16] Johansson played the 2022 season away on loan at Ettan Södra club Ängelholms FF,[17] for whom he made 26 appearances and scored four goals.[16] He was released by Trelleborgs FF at the end of the 2022 season.[18]
Lower-league football
editFollowing a failed trial with BK Astrio, Johansson transferred to Division 2 Västra Götaland club Laholms FK in late January 2023.[19] He made 23 appearances and scored four goals during the 2023 season,[16] prior to transferring across the division to BK Astrio in November 2023.[20]
International career
editIn 2015, Johansson won two caps for Sweden at U19 level, scoring one goal.[16]
Personal life
editJohansson is a grandson of Brazilian two-time World Cup-winning footballer Garrincha.[21]
