I-70

edit

What kind of knucklehead puts a citation needed on a statement that is backed up by the map to the right of the said statement. Greencastle IS located less than 10 miles from Interstate 70 and Greencastle IS located between Indy and Terre Haute. I know this and I live in a completely different part of the state. Rhatsa26X (talk) 04:30, 27 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

I have removed the citation needed as one may easily confirm that Greencastle, Indiana does in fact lie approximately 12 km from I-70 and because it is evident from the map included in the article that Greencastle lies in the west-central portion of the state. I include a link to a map I have prepared which demonstrates this fact. Map of Greencastle and I-70 --digital_me (talk) 21:58, 4 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

I have removed this line because of questionable notibility and verifiability as well as a few other comments:

edit
  • Joe Heithaus, Poet, Chairman of the English Department, DePauw University, Family Man, Father of 4, Handyman, Graduate of SUNY-Albany, and lead sales producer Fritos Lay Inc. Albany NY Region, 1984-85 (partial leader, 85)

If this individual is a published poet, this seems it may be partially notable. I may look into that aspect; however, "Chairman of the English Department" seems questionable, unless there is some other major factor contributing to that aspect, such as being a published poet through the Depaw University Press or affiliated orginization or the City of Greencastle or Putnam County or a related forum to the city or County; especially if these works relate to the city of Greencastle or Putnam County somehow. There is no need to mention all current Chairmen of the DePauw University Departments {If those are to be included in any article, the proper forum is the DePauw University aritcle.} Secondarily; "Family man, Father of 4, Handyman, lead sales producer Frito Lay Inc." etc. are unnecessary additions even if the notibility factor wades through. I have removed this to this discussion page as per the General Notability Guideline located here: Wikipedia:Notability in addition to the concept that Wikipedia is not a medium for self-promotion which is located a couple of paragraphs under that section on the same page. Removed poor sourcing

edit

The following was used as a source in the Events page, however if you go to this PDF link, you will find yourself at a non-credited PDF... no information as to who or what agency wrote said document. Even if this is an official city document there is nothing in it that claims that this idea {that it is a city document} is correct, therefore I have removed ti here to be discussed.

[1]

It also stands as plausible original research, since there are no "secondary" nor "tertiary" sources in this document...

Further to the point, this PDF article has nothing at all, really, to do with the percentage of enrollment of multicultural students at Depauw, the clause it was supposed to be supporting. Instead it is discussing the "Green Communities" in Indiana as approved by Indiana Association of Cities and Towns (IACT), which is true, but this source is from a completely unknown, therefore though I would like to include that information {about Greencastle being named a Green Community} into the article I cannot in good faith link to this unverifiable source.

Lesbian capital of Indiana? How did it get that facetious title? The answer to your question is "Vandalism". This article is not on any importance scale, and therefore is not yet locked. Update: This article is now low-importance scale... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 107.147.68.11 (talk) 23:14, 4 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
