Translation
edit@ArinLeighB: Where did you get the translation? They didn't translate it in the video you linked. It's also none of the translations on the already linked https://sacred-texts.com/neu/eng/child/ch114.htm. Snowman304|talk 05:02, 9 September 2024 (UTC)
- I can read and write in Scots and I was personal annoyed I couldn't find a translation when I was learning early on as this is one of my favorite ballads, so I translated it and used the Dictionaries of the Scots Language (dsl.ac.uk) to make sure I was being correct. Would linking to the dictionary help? I linked the video as it is where I got the lyrics from. ArinLeighB (talk) 16:49, 9 September 2024 (UTC)
- Translating the lyrics yourself is original research, which isn't allowed under WP:NOR. Snowman304|talk 07:54, 10 September 2024 (UTC)
- I see, I didn't know about that particular rule but thank you for letting me know at least why I couldn't publish it here so I don't keep making that mistake ArinLeighB (talk) 01:45, 11 September 2024 (UTC)
- No worries! It's a give and take process, and I'm sure there are a trillion and six rules and guidelines and whatnot that I still don't know. Snowman304|talk 11:34, 11 September 2024 (UTC)
