"Flagcruft"

Everybody keeps quoting MOS:FLAGCRUFT. I have looked at MOS:FLAGCRUFT. What listed there is reason for removing these from the Race pages? We are not emphasizing a thing or person's nationality unnecessarily, as the flags represent the countries themselves as a whole, much like one would see on an Olympics page. We are not using a flag because a picture of someone is unavailable. We're not using subnational flags except for cases such as Hong Kong, and we're not using Supernational flags. We're not rewriting history, hence why we use the old "White circle" design of the Malawi flag on TAR19 even though that one is no longer used. And finally, this has nothing to do with genocide, and it is not a disambiguation page. So why is everyone citing MOS:FLAGCRUFT? Shadow2 (talk) 07:28, 17 October 2021 (UTC)

I agree with you, its just all the articles have no flags on them because of the cited "MOS:FLAGCRUFT". Perhaps its smart to start a discussion and get a consensus, and ofc I'd support it. Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 17:16, 17 October 2021 (UTC)

so we are just adding athletes in whether they are qualified or not now? Seems really inconsistent.18abruce (talk) 16:01, 11 December 2021 (UTC)

Declined CSD

Hi, I'm wondering why you asked me to take Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2022 to AfD? The primary arguments in the prior AfD was that it was identical to the draft & TOOSOON, and the current article is almost identical (diff) to the draft before the AfD was closed. I'm not questioning your judgement or anything, just trying to understand where you're coming from. Thanks, Giraffer (talk·contribs) 19:38, 19 December 2021 (UTC)

Sorry, I didn't see that it was taken to AFD already. Had I seen that, I wouldn't have reverted. Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 19:47, 19 December 2021 (UTC)

Curling

Hey Sportsfan 1234. Following up on our conversation from the other day, I would just like to discuss the curling summary tables on countries articles for the 2022 Games. I see you have been putting all of the opposition games in one box and keeping the font at regular size as you believe “codes + small writing is hard to read.” Personally, I think that this way looks very messy and is harder to read and keep track of then the way I have been doing it with all countries scores in individual boxes. The countries codes are not too challenging to read and the font size is not that small either. Also, keeping all of the teams in individual boxes is how it was done for the 2018 Games and it worked just fine so I think it is easier to keep it this way. Keeping the summary boxes this way also allows all the countries final scores to be added to the table (see Canada at the 2018 Winter Olympics#Curling) which I don’t think can be done with the way you currently have the tables setup. Again, just want to have a discussion before making a final decision and I apologize if I may be coming off passive in anyway. Thanks! TracyFleuryFan (talk) 07:28, 25 December 2021 (UTC)

Hi! The tables are very hard to ready on mobile. I was trying to format it in the way of how beach volleyball summaries. Somme thing like this [1]. "Keeping the summary boxes this way also allows all the countries final scores to be added to the table " What do you mean by this? Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 15:51, 25 December 2021 (UTC)

Israel at the 2022 Winter Olympics - Alpine skiing

Hey,

I saw that you mentioned that Israel had declined one quota for alpine skiing. Since the statements of the members of the Olympic Committee in Israel that I know so far have been that if there is a third quota, it has not yet been decided who will be the third representative, and that there is no intention to decline the quota. I would love to understand based on what you wrote it down. Nimrodbr (talk) 06:42, 18 January 2022 (UTC)

Based on this [2] Israel only accepted 2 quotas in alpine. Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 16:33, 18 January 2022 (UTC)
Thanks. Nimrodbr (talk) 16:54, 18 January 2022 (UTC)

TAR S33E02 Pit Start

Just curious what the rules on putting in the Pit Start locations of legs are in the Race Summary section since you undid my edit? I've looked back on previous seasons, and from what I've gathered, I believe it's included if the Pit Stop/Pit Start locations are different? Wouldn't that apply here since the Pit Stop of leg 1 was at the Natural History Museum but the Pit Start of leg 2 was at St Mary Abbots church? OMGitsGARRET (talk) 02:26, 19 January 2022 (UTC)

Not mentioned on the show, which means its WP:TRIVIA. Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 23:07, 19 January 2022 (UTC)
I'm not sure what you mean by this? If you mean audibly mentioned, then yes, it wasn't audibly mentioned. However, you can visually see on screen that the Pit Start isn't at the Natural History Museum — it's at St Mary Abbots church. Would that not count as a technical mention because you can visually see it on screen? And if not, wouldn't a bunch of previous seasons of TAR Wikis have to be changed then? For example, for leg 6 of season 32, "Paris (Place Vendôme) (Pit Start)" is put as the Pit Start, however there's no audible mention of this in the episode. Though you can visually see that it's obviously the Pit Start location just from seeing it on screen, hence why I assume it's included. So would that same situation not apply here? Luge at the 2022 Winter Olympics – Qualification

Why do you believe that TPE never qualified in men's luge, but the same rule qualified them in women's luge? Seems strange but if you have something that explains this it would be appreciated.18abruce (talk) 23:13, 23 January 2022 (UTC)

Was just going off the document that FIL released. Doesn't indicate TPE qualified. Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 23:14, 23 January 2022 (UTC)
Which document? The list of qualified lugers which indicates Slovakia with two men's sled, which could not be true unless reallocated, which the Slovak Olympic committee stated was the case. Is there something new that you have, because that document also does not list the Netherlands women's sled, which definitely did qualify ahead of Moldova, but it is unclear how reallocation worked.18abruce (talk) 23:18, 23 January 2022 (UTC)
I have no other information, I don't object to adding back TPE, but could it also be he didn't meet the minimum requirements? Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 23:20, 23 January 2022 (UTC)
Still possible for sure, but unlikely since he raced six world cups, which was at five different tracks, during Olympic Qualifying. Someone had to give up their spot for Slovakia but there is something that does not quite work in the men's and women's reallocation. I opened a discussion on it and think I will just leave it for a while to see if something comes up.18abruce (talk) 23:26, 23 January 2022 (UTC)

MoS regarding Nations at Olympics

Since you are a member of the WikiProject:Olympics, you should be aware that the Manual of Style of this WikiProject refers to Palau at the 2008 Summer Olympics as an examplatory article hence therefore it is acceptable to divide men and women in a sport if there are 6 people or less participating. Arctic Winter Games

You've proposed deletion of a large number of Arctic Winter Games connected articles but have not informed the article creator about any of them. Why not? SpinningSpark 19:50, 27 January 2022 (UTC)

Not sure why? I used the TW button at the top of my screen to automate the whole thing. Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 21:13, 27 January 2022 (UTC)
For what it's worth, it is not mandatory to notify the creator, likely because of situations like this where TW decides not to play nice. Primefac (talk) 07:41, 28 January 2022 (UTC) (talk page stalker)
It may not be mandatory, but since it is part of the instructions at Wikipedia:Proposed deletion, a policy page, that is a somewhat weak excuse to say the least. The user of a tool is always responsible for the actions of a tool as if they made the edit themselves and it is down to them to fix any mistakes. A large number of articles have been nominated at once, there is now little time for the creator to react, the editor still has not been informed, and the editor in question User:Kaffe42 has not edited for five days. If this were problematic material I wouldn't care, but it isn't, so in the interest of fairness, I'm going to deprod them all. SpinningSpark 16:41, 28 January 2022 (UTC)
I'm big on what words actually mean, and if a policy page says significant contributors should ideally be left a message then it means there is no mandate to leave a message. Sure, it's the equivalent of "strongly encouraged", but implying that a lack of notification somehow invalidates a PROD (or XfD) is improper.
That being said, Sportsfan's reply below indicates that your original post is incorrect, so I'll consider this issue closed; if you wish to continue it on a more central venue I am happy to do so. Primefac (talk) 18:50, 29 January 2022 (UTC)

Reverted edits on Bosnia and Herzegovina at the 2022 Winter Olympics

Could you please explain why did you revert my changes on Bosnia and Herzegovina at the 2022 Winter Olympics? I've deleted the "Men" label above the alpine skiing table, because there are both man and woman in the table. Furthermore, I've added the flag bearers in infobox and referenced it from the official website of Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina. --Semso98 (talk) 13:10, 2 February 2022 (UTC)

Hi... I saw you nominated templates for events that are in their 1st year at the Olympics. I have looked at past games 2018 and 2020 and there are quite a few that are 1st year events that have templates. Should they all be deleted? Seems like if they will return for the next Olympics they should not be deleted but if not returning then delete. Not sure the correct answer Thanks Tomrtn (talk) 18:00, 13 February 2022 (UTC)

February 2022

My edits were formatting edits, following the Olympics manual of style. As per the Olympics MOS (and per my double checking first how previous years were done), the flagbearers are combined into one line, not separate ones. This is why I combined them on articles that I have gone through. I also edited some dates to maintain consistency through an article, to avoid articles switching back and forth from MDY to DMY (the MOS also indicates dates should be consistent). So please clarify what you consider 'vandalizing'... Chantella28 (talk) 22:17, 22 February 2022 (UTC)

Removing the flagbearer format. Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 23:36, 22 February 2022 (UTC)
My edits were exactly in line with the Olympics Manual of Style, and changes were made to ensure consistency across years of games pages Chantella28 (talk) 01:22, 23 February 2022 (UTC)
My guess is that the MoS hasn't been updated since the Olympic template was updated a few years ago. The new template has explicit lines for opening and closing flagbearers, so to me it makes sense to either use those, or remove the extra line from the template. I prefer using them, but either way that should be discussed so consensus could be reached on how the issue should be handled in the future. You're both making good faith edits, please keep that in mind when raising issues like this. -- Lejman (talk) 19:53, 23 February 2022 (UTC)

Please, let me know what is your problem with the Pan American games templates. But don't revert changes made not only by me but by other editors. That's not the way to reach a consensus, I think. Fma12 (talk) 18:00, 2 April 2022 (UTC)

Help AFD

Hi Sportsfan 1234 I removed the template from Abdul Rahman Omar (bowls) following the process Help:AFD part 2 which states In the Proposed Deletion (PROD) process, editors (including you) may agree (by adding Proposed deletion endorsed below the Proposed deletion template), or disagree (by removing these templates). If you disagree, indicate why you object in the edit summary. so I am a bit confused as to why a bot has reverted the removal when it is an option. Your proposed deletion suggests it failed WP:GNG but surely a champion of a continent of a 'worldwide sport' does not fail WP:GNG. Was it the references that you thought needed improving? I could add more but it is only a stub. Thanks Pipesmoking Legend (talk) 18:58, 26 April 2022 (UTC)

As a minor point, I've added some wikilinks just for ease of navigating, you are welcome to remove them. You have somewhat misunderstood the guidance at the Help page. Omar's page has been nominated for deletion via AFD, so in the "flowchart" of how deletion discussions work, you need to go to step 3.1 (not step 3.2 as you have described, which regards a proposed deletion). I do note, however, that you have correctly commented at the AFD, so that is you taking part in the process. Primefac (talk) 07:59, 27 April 2022 (UTC) (talk page stalker)

Wrestling record and medal tables

Hey Sportsfan 1234, how is it going? I'm writing to you because of two things. First of all, I really can't see how adding a record of senior, international level matches to a wrestler is "due weight", seeing who a wrestler faced and how he did at national, continental and world events is important and I really can't see it as unnecessary at all, I see it as a nice addition. Plus, there's no section (or is largely uncompleted) that shows at the very least what place someone took at national/continental/world events in most articles.

Second, I visited WP:Olympics as you directed me to, but 1. Collegiate wrestling is not even an olympic sport and is a different style to freestyle/Greco-Roman, and only the National and Conference championships are listed. Even if it was an olympic sport, I don't see the page saying anything about medal tables.

I look forward to your response, have a good day. PabloLikesToWrestle (talk) 19:08, 13 May 2022 (UTC)

Collegiate wrestling is not a sport. Wrestling is. International tournaments are located in the infobox of athletes. Listing every match of an athlete is 100% undue weight. Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 20:28, 13 May 2022 (UTC)
Of course it isn't, no one said it was, but it is another discipline/event and there's no reason to not add its biggest tourneys in an athlete's infobox just because it isn't an Olympic sport. Collegiate wrestling literally does not have international tournaments, the pinnacle of NCAA wrestling is the national championship, therefore it shall be added in the infobox imo. Again, "listing every match of an athlete is 100% undue weight" based on? Your own opinion? PabloLikesToWrestle (talk) 17:03, 16 May 2022 (UTC)

PRODS

Hello, Sportsfan 1234,

I'm looking over some pages that your PROD'd and noticed that you don't post notifications on the talk page of the page creator letting them know about the proposed deletion. This is important with PRODs because sometimes there is an easy fix to whatever has gotten the tagger's attention, like adding additional sources that the article creator can do something about. I see you used Twinkle to tag the page, which is great, but Twinkle should be posting these notices for you. Please check your Twinkle Preferences so that "Notify page creator" box is checked off. This way, any time you tag a page for deletion, Twinkle will do the work for you which makes the process easy. If you also tag for speedy deletion, please go to the CSD preferences and make sure every criteria box is checked off. For some reason the Twinkle default is to only notify page creators for certain types of CSD criteria when I don't think it really matters why the page will be deleted, the content creator should be informed about it. Many thanks for your contributions! Liz Read! Talk! 21:26, 30 May 2022 (UTC)

Nomination of Jake Thiel for deletion

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Jake Thiel is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jake Thiel until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. Move to draft

Sportsfan 1234 moved page 2022 World Athletics Championships – Men's high jump to Draft:2022 World Athletics Championships – Men's high jump: Moving to draft as there are a lot of copy paste errors.

Advice

If I might be so bold as to tender you helpful, or at least hopefully helpful, advice, it would be for you to heed to basic rules. One, you will avoid much unnecessary conflict if you stop deleting material that, whether you like seeing it or not, is properly supported by apt references. Second, simply asserting that material that you wish to delete is a copyright law violation is not sufficient, and when it is clear that it is not a copyright law violation a baseless claim reflects badly on the editor who makes such a claim. Cheers, and best of luck. 2600:1017:B809:4462:24C3:9D21:F8E5:40EE (talk) 00:42, 17 July 2022 (UTC)

Notifying about AFDs

For the second time - you need to please notify article creators about AFDs. If you do it a third time I'll have no option but to view it as a deliberate act and seek a topic ban for AFDs. GiantSnowman 19:18, 28 July 2022 (UTC)

I am not sure what you are talking about? Two users have asked me 'not to let them know. If there is another one I am not sure why, as I only unclick for those two users. Besides, the AFD bot will get to it shortly after, so I really don't understand this obsession over being notified. Calm down seriously. Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 20:42, 28 July 2022 (UTC)
It's not an obsession, notifying page creators is part of the deletion process, whether it is for CSD, PROD or AFD/RFD/MFD/etc. Please do not omit these notifications with any page you tag for deletion. Do it as a matter of course with every tagging. Liz Read! Talk! 03:18, 30 July 2022 (UTC)
@GiantSnowman and Liz: I have disagreed with Sportsfan 1234 many times on deletion discussions but this is misleading. Per strong community consensus, there is no need to notify the creator. Aman Kumar Goel (Talk) 11:06, 2 August 2022 (UTC)
Wikipedia:Articles for deletion#After nominating: Notify interested projects and editors - "While not required, it is generally considered courteous to notify the good-faith creator and any main contributors of the articles that you are nominating for deletion". Furthermore, I specifically have asked for notifications, and have been ignored. GiantSnowman 17:57, 2 August 2022 (UTC)
  • @Sportsfan 1234: This is for you. You already know that notification is strictly optional and as such you should at least stop notifying User talk:Lugnuts because the user was already indeffed and is now site banned. They are not able to participate in AfDs. It is unnecessary to notify them anymore. Aman Kumar Goel (Talk) 05:13, 3 August 2022 (UTC)
For what it's worth, the Lugnuts talk page is watched by more than 300 people. It may be useful to post deletion notifications regardless of the ban because others may be interested in reviewing such deletion nominations. Simeon (talk) 10:30, 6 August 2022 (UTC)

Hello, Sportsfan 1234,

Why did you move an article with this title to Draft:Gymnastics at the 2022 Commonwealth Games – Women's rhythmic team all-around and then create a new page at this main space title? That's not how things are done on Wikipedia. If there is an existing article in main space, you help improve that article, you don't just make an article disappear into Draft space and then start up your own version. I'll see if I can request a history merge of the two articles.

Editors have been blocked for doing this stunt repeatedly so please do not do this again. Liz Read! Talk! 15:03, 5 August 2022 (UTC)

I have to say I'm a bit disappointed to see this series of edits as well; I expected better of you Sportsfan. Primefac (talk) 15:38, 5 August 2022 (UTC)
Isn't that what is normally done? The drafts are merged into the article when its created? I am a bit confused here. Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 16:01, 5 August 2022 (UTC)
It might look that way now, but when I got the histmerge request the page looked a lot different. Special:Diff/1102392777 is you moving the page to draft, and Special:PermaLink/1102425224 is you creating a brand-new page in the article space (as explained further here). There's nothing wrong with moving an article to Draft for it to be worked on further, but when it's ready to go the page should be moved back to the article space, not recreated on the hopes that someone will notice and request a {{histmerge}}. Primefac (talk) 06:57, 6 August 2022 (UTC)
Thank you for letting me know, sorry for any inconvenience caused. Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 16:37, 6 August 2022 (UTC)
No worries. Not the end of the world, just more surprised that it happened is all. Primefac (talk) 20:06, 6 August 2022 (UTC)

Notification for deletion tagging

Hello, Sportsfan 1234,

I've been dealing with some articles you PROD'd and you neglected to post notifications on the talk page of the article creators. This is an important step in the deletion process with all forms of deletion (CSD, PROD, AFD/CFD/RFD/etc.). What I don't understand is that you used Twinkle to tag the pages and Twinkle should have posted a notice on the talk page of the content creator for you.

Please check your Twinkle Preferences and make sure that you have the "Notify page creator" box checked off. Neglecting to inform content creators when their pages have been tagged for deletion and moving another editor's page into Draft space so you can create your own version of the article doesn't make you look like a collaborative editor, Sportsfan 1234. Treat other editors like you would like to be treated, please. Liz Read! Talk! 03:50, 7 August 2022 (UTC)

Well, I see that you did post a talk page notice for Vovinam at the 2013 Southeast Asian Games, so you do it some times which is better than never. Please try to remember to do this thought. Many thanks! Liz Read! Talk! 03:53, 7 August 2022 (UTC)
I am not sure what is up with Twinkle. I haven't touched the settings in the past, so it should be the default settings. This is what I think happened with Giant Snowman above, where some were posting and some were not. Is this a known issue with Twinkle? In fairness, is it perhaps possible to restore the PRODed articles which didn't leave a notice on the creator's talk page? @Liz Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 03:57, 7 August 2022 (UTC)
Don't worry about the occasional dropped notification, it is not a hard requirement so it's not like there's a "legal loophole" in which a page must be restored because the creator was not notified. Primefac (talk) 08:44, 7 August 2022 (UTC)

August 2022

Arorae, are you sure you're warning the correct user? Sportsfan has edited that page once (and I say that to mean "one session" of 9 edits in a row) today, and has not edited the page otherwise since mid-June. In other words, they cannot (by definition) be edit warring. Primefac (talk) 12:33, 7 August 2022 (UTC)
Primefac, thanks for your question. In fact, you are right, Sportsfan has only edited 9 times most of them to take off Interwiki links, manually, in order not to look like an editwar. It is a thing he has already done on nearly every article of Athletics where I have already added Interwiki links (ill), on red links, to give to everyone a small blue link on another article written in Spanish, French or German, links he seems not be interesting for him, but he does that without any prior discussion and without respecting guidelines.--Arorae (talk) 13:50, 7 August 2022 (UTC)
and this is not the first time he did [15]. --Arorae (talk) 13:52, 7 August 2022 (UTC)
That's... not in any way shape or form an edit war. Primefac (talk) 14:49, 7 August 2022 (UTC)

Hi, CWG 2022

Hi,

I just want to know why there is no page for the Men's 200m and Men's Javelin throw at the CWG and why have they just been kept as drafts? Thanks A Fantasy (talk) 21:37, 7 August 2022 (UTC)

Some user created multiple redirects, after repeated warnings not too, so these were moved to draft space to indicate the articles did not exist. Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 21:59, 7 August 2022 (UTC)

Moving redirects to draft

Sportsfan 1234, if you are trying to clear a redirect to put in an approved draft article, you can use {{db-afc-move|Draft:myarticlename}} or see WP:CSD G6. Do not move the redirect to draft to blank out. AngusW🐶🐶F (barksniff) 22:23, 7 August 2022 (UTC)

I'm trying to clear out the table tennis redirects that got moved to draft. Those aren't needed. Those can just be overwritten with the actual article. AngusW🐶🐶F (barksniff) 22:26, 7 August 2022 (UTC)

Mass AfD

Hi — when you mass-AfD something, could you not notify the user per-nomination, and perhaps instead do one message at the end with a list? MonFrontieres's message to you was inappropriate (and had you not warned them, I would have), but I can somewhat empathise with getting irritated by that many notifications! Just a suggestion, thank you  TheresNoTime (talk • she/her) 19:47, 8 August 2022 (UTC)

I use Twinkle, isn't that automatic per article? Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 19:55, 8 August 2022 (UTC)
When you open up the Twinkle AfD window, there should be a checkbox near the top which says "Notify page creator if possible"? It's checked by default, and should almost always remain checked, but for this many nominations it perhaps makes sense to uncheck it and then leave a manual message with a list once you've done a batch — TheresNoTime (talk • she/her) 19:57, 8 August 2022 (UTC)

Superiority Complex

These are unnecessary, being last on these legs signifies nothing except being in last place, which is accomplished satisfactorily with the "nth" indicator.

Just because you think my edits are "unconstructive" doesn't mean they are. I am giving a perfectly valid reasoning for their removal, and you've provided no rebuttal or argument whatsoever. If you disagree with their removal use your words. 2604:3D08:7481:AF00:1D22:1331:97B:AE3E (talk) 01:48, 12 August 2022 (UTC)

You can take it to the talk page of the respective articles. Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 01:49, 12 August 2022 (UTC)
No, you can take it to the talk page if you disagree. If people went to the talk page for every single change to every single article, that would be ridiculous and the talk pages would be gigantic. It's called an edit of good faith by someone who sees a way that the page can be improved. It's really rude to just decide "No I don't think that's good" and immediately warn that an editor will get banned for trying to help. Furthermore, this was brought up already by someone else but not a single person responded. Is an editor supposed to just wait an infinite amount of time for someone to respond? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2604:3D08:7481:AF00:1D22:1331:97B:AE3E (talk) 01:55, 12 August 2022 (UTC)

Where? This change affects multiple pages. Should I do it on every single page (excessive) or on Talk:The Amazing Race (where it was already brought up and ignored)? Or, to expedite things, you could just tell me right now why you think they need to stay, which again is suggested on WP:BRD. 2604:3D08:7481:AF00:1D22:1331:97B:AE3E (talk) 02:33, 12 August 2022 (UTC)
I would do it on the Talk:The Amazing Race page, and then see recent editors on the specific seasons and tag them. You can tag them by using the @ and writing in User:X, replacing X with the user name. Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 02:50, 12 August 2022 (UTC)
Very well. I hope in the future you consider against immediately slamming a ban warning on someone making a change with an explanation, something that is clearly not vandalism or disruptive editing. 2604:3D08:7481:AF00:1D22:1331:97B:AE3E (talk) 03:04, 12 August 2022 (UTC)

Is there a policy against notifying users? Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 21:32, 14 August 2022 (UTC)
Notification of users is optional and there's zero point in notifying a banned user, moreover think of the damage you're doing to them with the continual templating which they can do nothing about nor respond to. There's a human on the other side of the banned user name. The Rambling Man (Keep wearing the mask...) 21:38, 14 August 2022 (UTC)
I understand that. I don't really look at the user who has created the article, more so the content. Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 21:42, 14 August 2022 (UTC)

I'm a geographer and I work with sports management and this edition of the Commonwealth Games has presented a lot of new things for the layman and I try to explain also for the experts, too.
