Move Crystal Radio

Need help again. The article "Crystal radio receiver" is not right. It should be "Crystal radio" I created an article "Crystal radio" and redirected it to "Crystal radio receiver" but we really need to get the word "receiver" out of the title. I tried to move it but it will not over write. Can we delete "Crystal radio" and move it there? Ideas? Thanks, John

EBSuite Help

Would you give me a chance to correct my page for EBSuite. I may have made mistakes since I copied the information provided by Netsuite. And thougth I needed to include product information and such. All we really wanted was to mark in history how a small set of former Oracle and Stanford engineers without the aid of large VC's have created a successful company with two offices around the world. May we have a chance to fix it? JC Prenner 30 November 2006:

Hi JC Prenner. EBSuite was speedy deleted for being a blatant advert. Articles which look like adverts are usually going to get deleted. The key policies relevant to this are NPOV, verifiability, and conflict of interest. Articles need to cite reliable independent sources to substantiate all the content. Please also see WP:CORP. -- zzuuzz (talk) 02:47, 2 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hi John. It doesn't look too bad to me. The picture has made a difference. It could still do with some references, and probably a See also section. Interesting that the articles for Radio Waves and Radio wave point to two other different articles. -- zzuuzz (talk) 03:56, 24 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Removal of Sprotect on Relient K article

It was about to be removed, I put it up for a couple of days cause we were getting some vandalism all of a sudden and were trying to fix the article. Thanks for removing it, I was going to do that tomorrow. Maybe I didn't do it right in protecting the page. Oh well. Thanks again.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by DJREJECTED (talkcontribs).

No problem. The template on its own has no effect on its own except to deter legitimate editors, which is why I remove it whenever it has been incorrectly applied. Protection can only be applied by admins, usually via WP:RPP. -- zzuuzz (talk) 02:43, 23 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Removal of Sprotect Tests on my pages

I was just testing how the Sprotect thing looks on my pages. If you looked in the history of my pages, it said "TEST - DO NOT REMOVE". I was going to remove it in awhile, but forgot about it. Audiobooks

All the links I added that you keep removing are relevant to the audio book industry. I salute you efforts to police pages on wikipedia but I disagree with your thoughts that these links are not relevant. --freeb26 6:56, 3 January 2007 (EST)

Relevant to the audio book industry is not criteria for inclusion of an external link on Wikipedia, especially when it is one person spamming a link to their own site which falls foul of the external link guidelines. Stop spamming, thanks. -- zzuuzz (talk) 12:12, 3 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

I personally have policed and added links to relevant companies within the audio book industry. I cannot understand you persistent discrimination to commercial links. Some sites are clearly not relevant and your efforts to keep this page clean are good. The links I added are all relevant. Perhaps we need this to go to some form of arbitration. --freeb26 09:19, 3 January 2007 (EST)

Discrimination is an essential part of editing, and the criteria are very clearly spelled out at WP:EL. You are welcome to solicit other opinions on your insistence on inserting your link - how about we ask at WP:WPSPAM ? -- zzuuzz (talk) 14:40, 3 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

I will back off and leave you to be the good Samaritan you are. I am sure you have better things to do than argue with me. I do believe that the sites I place were relevant to this industry. I just think that commercial links are as relevant as any open source links. I mean the one link left is for dmoz which is so out of date. The audiobooks.net link was one I have some interest in perhaps for that reason you would consider it spam but I feel the site has real value. I did add several others links that are relevant and leaders within the audio book industry. --freeb26 09:50, 3 January 2007 (EST)

About adding Links.....

hi buddy, if i want to add a link to a article....what is the benefit of adding it to the talk page...—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Probuzz (talkcontribs).

Adding links to your own site, particularly to promote a SEO website, is not allowed on Wikipedia. This is explained at the external links guidelines. Additionally, and this has not been pointed out to you yet, linking to copyright violations from Google's AdSense blog is also not permitted. If a link to your website is a fantastic relevant compliant resource which has not been identified by independent editors yet, then it can be suggested on the talk page so that an independent editor can add it if the community thinks it is appropriate. This is to comply with the official NPOV policy. Wikipedia is not for self-promotion, and repeat spammers are blocked from editing all the time. SEOs in particular are likely to get their site completely blacklisted. -- zzuuzz (talk) 14:35, 7 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Why the edits?

Hi, I posted some very relevant useful and unique information about Scott Storch (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scott_Storch) and it keeps getting deleted. The link is not affiliated with me at all It seems that a good amount of relevant information and media is being deleted unnecessary. Can you help me?—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Fr0zen2k7 (talkcontribs).

Hi. Your link on the ringtones article was just a link to a commercial service provider. It was neither relevant or unique. Take a look at WP:EL to find out why it will always be removed. Your link to Scott Storch is to a forum post which also appears to contain photos posted in breach of copyright (again see previous link on both counts). Hope this clarifies. -- zzuuzz (talk) 01:26, 8 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

I did not post any ringtone articles...How can I look at what I posted? I'm on a pretty large network, so there might be others spamming, unfortunetly. I did post the Scott Storch article. The images are all from the members of the forum, the post is just joined. There are 2-3 that are not by the members, and they are watermarked.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Fr0zen2k7 (talkcontribs).

Hi. It was nothing to do with me, though I did move it as I suggested. The article was deleted as a spamvertisement (CSD). It didn't appear that way to me, but like you, I no longer have access to the contents. You might want to double-check with the deleting admin. -- zzuuzz (talk) 19:07, 8 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
I wrote my reply before you restored it, and if it's the same content, I can see that it doesn't seem to meet the speedy deletion criteria. {{Db-spam}} is a widely misused template - I will try and keep an eye out for any future speedy deletion tags on the article, as I will contest it, as should you. If you see one in time, place a {{hangon}} on the article. You can also complain (politely please) to the deleting admin. -- zzuuzz (talk) 19:21, 8 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
HELP - it was deleted again instantly. I can't see who's doing it so I can't help. Could you please restore it - I think one of the Aleda guys must be outright deleting it somehow? --Mrtobacco 23:09, 8 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
See [1]. I don't know if someone is placing a speedy deletion tag on it or not, but the deleting admin is the person who makes the decision. -- zzuuzz (talk) 23:14, 8 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Debt Consolidation

Hello I put up an informational site about debt consolidation. It was edited by an editor before you yet it was deleted. It had quite a few pages written by a copy writer about Debt Consolidation and many of its facets. I was wondering why you took it off because it wasn't promotional if it was it would be on about.com with it's many ads. Can you please answer this? "Space blocks" :P [continued...]

Hi; thanks for your explanation regarding the <pre></pre> elements at WP:HD. I hope you don't mind me asking here, but I've been trying to figure this out for some time now and haven't really made any progress. I'm hoping that you might have some ideas.

My reason for asking was to try and figure out the best way (i.e., requiring the least amount of "work") to post a few lines of code, while also formatting it as code, and indenting everything correctly. So far, the only way I found of doing this is to use a rather messy combination of <code>, <nowiki>, maybe <blockquote>, maybe <pre>, and <br /> tags—and having to repeat (open and close) most of them multiple times (for each line) to get the desired effect. This is only a problem when I want to show more than just one line of code, because I seemingly need to use <br /> at the end of each line to start a new line, which obviously doesn't work in between <nowiki> tags, which is why I have to open and close <nowiki> for each line...and round and round we go.

I'm not sure if this makes any sense. Basically, I'm asking whether you have any better way of displaying the 4 lines of code here like it currently does, without having to use a mess such as this (between the <!-- Ugh! --> and <!-- End Ugh! --> comments).

I'm sorry to bother you with something this trivial. —XhantarTalk 01:39, 15 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

No problem. Pre is short for pre-formatted, which means that any spaces and line breaks within the element are treated as such. On Wiki we can create a Pre element with a leading space, and subsequent spaces and line-breaks are treated as being contained within the Pre element.
this is just a leading space
 this is two leading spaces
and a new line with two leading spaces
 this is some code
   which must be formatted...
like this, just using leading spaces

Now, the problem you have with displaying wikicode is that you usually have to <nowiki> it which makes the leading space ineffective and the Pre element not appear. You get:

{{#if:{{{hunger<includeonly>|</includeonly>}}}|  ! Hunger/Thirst {{!}} {{{hunger}}} }}

but if you include the whole thing in a <pre> tag, you get this:

{{#if:{{{hunger<includeonly>|</includeonly>}}}|
! Hunger/Thirst
   token extra-indented line
{{!}} {{{hunger}}}
}}

Take a look at the page source for details. Does this help? -- zzuuzz(talk) 02:16, 15 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yes, of course! That seems so blatantly obvious—I feel like kicking myself! But that brings me back to my original problem.
If I now want to indent that whole <pre> block, and its contents,
so it left aligns nicely with the start of
this sentence...would that be possible? —XhantarTalk 09:27, 15 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

mmm, I think you will need CSS:

indented
from pre block
indented
from margin
 and indented again

and then:

indented to match other indents
indent1
indented to match other indents
indent2

Hi zzuuzz - I recieved this message when I added to the affiliate marketing page. The article is from my webpage and is my own work. I didn't want to reference myself, just add content. What is the best way to denote the articles are of my own writings without looking like I'm self promoting or spamming? As you can see I'm pretty new at this! Thanks for all your help!!! Affiliate marketing We appreciate your contributions to the Affiliate marketing article, but we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. For this reason your edits have been reverted or removed. Perhaps you would like to rewrite the information in your own words. If you do, please remember to cite your source(s). Hi Mbacak. The first requirement is that you indicate on the website that you license the text under the GFDL or an equivalent licence, so that others are allowed to modify it and use it for any purpose. But that is just part of it. The other issue is that the text is not encyclopaedic in tone. Phrases such as "if you’ve been on the Internet today" are not used in encyclopaedia (that is, the second person). It also makes recommendations, which are inappropriate ("As an affiliate manager, you want a system that..."). Wikipedia articles adhere to a neutral point of view. Could you please check this out. Something seems fishy.¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 21:47, 22 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

A big thanks

Thank you so much, I promise, I will never do that again, is it ok if I remove the templates though, they may impede my reputation on wikipedia (more so). 1B6 13:38, 23 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Loughborough Endowed Schools

Hi,

The issue has now been resolved; could you possibly have a look at the discussion on User talk:Bubba hotep, and if you agree, remove the warning on my user page? Many thanks Tom s252 20:25, 23 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

3RR

[Regarding the Kingdom of Great Britain,] 3RR does not apply when the other party is vandalising the page. AVD's edits are the consistent enforcement of a POV upon the article without discussion, despite warnings that he is in breach of WP:NPOV, hence fall into the category of vandalism per WP:VAND: "Though inappropriate, [POV editing] is not vandalism in itself unless persisted in after being warned."

Furthermore, I had established a RfC, against the wishes of the other participant in the dispute, before you warned me, so consider your decision to do so somewhat illogical and offensive to my position as a long-standing and dedicated Wikipedian. Bastin 15:00, 24 February 2007 (UTC)

I take your point, however this is turning into a disruptive edit war. There is an exception to 3RR for obvious vandalism - ""Obvious vandalism" doesn't just mean obvious to you or obvious to editors of the page who are familiar with the subject matter; it means obvious to anyone looking at the last edit." There is clearly a legitimate dispute whether it is well-founded or not. -- zzuuzz(talk) 15:05, 24 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

DCG Web Services

We at DCG Web Services are a fully-qualified provider of FREE(no-ads) Web-based Email services in the Philippines and by placing an ad I was only attempting to get some recognition. Can I place a link on Web-based Email? Thanks www.d-c-g.com DCG Web Services —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 210.213.127.235 (talkcontribs).

Wikipedia is not a place for advertising, or a place to gain recognition, especially for "affordable web design solutions". Please read the external link guidelines. Thanks. -- zzuuzz(talk) 18:08, 24 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Did you even visit the site to either confirm or deny what you are saying? -- Thanks dcg web services

Of course. I even quoted from it, but I will quote more - "a full service professional affordable Philippines web design company with internet marketing services. We are locally owned and operated in the Philippines and all of our work is done in-house. Our prices and services are simply UNBEATABLE! Free SEO included!!!". Did you even read the external links guidelines? -- zzuuzz(talk) 18:17, 24 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yes, we do have a commercial aspect of our business as well as a non-commercial one. As does Yahoo, Google, MSN, etc. Would placing a link in Web-based email directly to the Sign-Up form be more appropriate? Dcgwebservices 18:22, 24 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

I really think you should read the guidelines. This is not the place to solicit any business. Thanks. -- zzuuzz(talk) 18:23, 24 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thank you sir, this issue is resolved however my site is providing a public service as well as a commercial one. Dcgwebservices 18:30, 24 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

chuvashiaportal

Thank you for blacklisting the world-cat.org/chuvashiaportal stuff. I was just about to scream for help. I don't know if it is possible, but is it possible to check if User:Bibliofil, User:JoJo35, User:Samrio2, User:Lokitoki, etc. are all the same guy? Or do spammers tend to use unsecured open proxies, negating the possibility of tying together sockpuppets via IP? —RP88 15:56, 26 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Zzuzz,

You've motioned for this before, but I've finally gone and done it. The 'Senior School Leadership' section on this article was a list of unverifiable, non-notable names subject to constant vandalism, so I removed it. Your feedback is welcome on the talk page. :) --gummAY 07:06, 28 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

World History timelines

Zzuzz, following your advice of a few months ago I have today put into the discussion page of List of timelines an account of a large new Wikipedia-linked timeline that I have put online. I don't imagine anyone is very likely to see it on that particular page, and more relevant might be some of the discussion pages for specific history articles. We have also put online a lot of precisely focused timelines linking to Wikipedia (menu at Single-Subject Timelines)that I feel Wikipedians would find useful. Every one of these timelines shares a title with an article in Wikipedia. So advice welcome please on putting similar notes in the discussion pages of those articles.

In relation to the commercial aspect, these timelines will not carry ads. Bamber Gascoigne 11:38, 28 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

This IP that just got blocked just tried to put an unblocked template on his page saying it was granted. Creative vandal I'll give them that. Anyway I'd see about getting it increased for something like this. --Xiahou 01:14, 1 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

I saw that, quite funny really. Let's see what he does when he returns. -- zzuuzz(talk) 01:16, 1 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Aevum Obscurum

Why have you reverted back to the old, out of date wikipage of Aevum Obscurum? I am a member and admin of the game and have been making the edits for Chris (The maker of the game). Please revert the page back to the latest version. -=[Я0ADK!LL]=- 10:50, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

Hi. The text was a copyright violation, not to mention quite unencyclopaedic - "So, will your place be in the history books or in the mud?". Please re-write it in your own words. Thanks. -- zzuuzz(talk) 11:24, 1 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
