  • Accentuation: In biographies, use accents if the subject him/herself used them in when spelling their name.
  • Spanish words & organizations with Spanish names: Should be italicized (or, if appropriate, placed in double quotes) and followed by an English translation the first time they appear in an article.
  • Dates should be given in the form Day Month Year (e.g. 17 October 2011).
  • In numbers, commas should be used to separate each group of three digits, while a period should be used as decimal point.

Categorization

edit

In general lines, articles should be assigned the most specific category possible, excluding all its parent categories. Additionally it should be categorized in all other useful categories. For example, Palacio Taranco should be assigned Category:Palaces in Montevideo which is subcategory of both Category:Palaces in Uruguay and Category:Buildings and structures in Montevideo. However, since it is also a museum, it is also assigned Category:Museums in Montevideo. Additionally, Category:1910 architecture and Category:Ciudad Vieja, Montevideo can be assigned.

To facilitate the categorization of Uruguayan articles and to check for areas of topics needing attention, you can check the categorization tree of Category:Uruguay, presented as an expanded list here: Wikipedia:WikiProject Uruguay/Categorization. Note that the list is not updated automatically.

When placing {{WikiProject Uruguay}} template on talk pages of Categories, Templates, Files, Project, Portal and Disambiguation pages, you do not need to add |class= values, as they are automatically assigned the appropriate values and do not appear as unassessed. In Categories, Templates and Files you can assign a value to the |topic= parameter, so that they appear in the appropriate group (for more information see the instructions of the template).

Article requests
Browse the various article Categories of Uruguay (see Categorization above) to see if the topic is already covered. If not, post your request on the needed articles list: Wikipedia:WikiProject Uruguay/Needed articles. Also check that page in case you wish to adopt an article.

One important challenge would be to start and develop Architecture of Montevideo. Given the wealth of architectural treasures in Montevideo, such an article could easily go all the way to become Featured Article.
