If one was to write "Bsc (Hons)" on a passport application form for example, this would not be included on the documentation by the passport office. However, the initials "Phd" would on a separate page known as "Observations". Just thought I should clear this issue up. undo

They are used by the recipient in business when writing letters or on business cards, but are not recognised legally unlike a "OLY" or "CBE" for example. undo
