Bennett Braun was an American psychiatrist known for his involvement in the "Satanic Panic" and the promotion of the concept of multiple personality disorder.[1][2]

Braun was a co-founder of the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation.[3] He was involved in the promotion of the theory of satanic ritual abuse, and appeared on TV promoting the concept.[4]

He was sued by former patient Patricia Burgus in 1993, resulting in a settlement of $10.6 million. The case made national headline news.[2][5]

Burgus died in 2024, at the age of 83.[1]
