*At the League School of Greater Boston , 14-year-old boy Raymond Wang, a student at the school, came back to school after twenty days of school vacation. The last day of school was June 29, 2011, after which League School students had three weeks off. School resumed for teachers on Monday, July 18, 2011, but that day was a "Staff Training Day," so students had one extra day of summer break, returning the following day on Tuesday the 19th. Although the school day itself was okay for Raymond, the time after the 2:45 p.m. dismissal was not. Ray had been attending the after-school program in a group home on Rock Street, Norwood, MA, for ten months; ever since September 20, 2010, he had gone to that residence with other League School students and staff members on Mondays through Thursdays, coming home for weekends, vacations, and holiday breaks (such as Thanksgiving break). Two of his favorite things to do at Rock Street are talking with staff members about things he loves (such as video games, music, and his imagination and fantasy world) and using the computer to listen to music online by going to YouTube or Grooveshark to listen to songs. On the afternoon of 7/19/2011, at around 2:50 p.m., five minutes after the school day ended, Rock Street's house manager, Bob Most, told Ray that there has been a suspicion that Ray had been engaged in hacking the email accounts of other students. Ray was innocent; the allegations were false, and he did no such thing. However, to err on the side of caution, Bob and other school staff members banned Ray from using the Internet at school and at Rock Street until the allegations could be confidently proven false. Ray was understandably very upset because he was being grounded and punished for something he didn't do.
** On July 20, 2011, the second day of this "ordeal", while the Rock Street students were having dinner, fellow students Alex Teixeira and Sean Burke, both aged 20, refused to talk to Ray as they firmly believed Ray had, indeed, compromised their email accounts even though Ray did not. By July 29, although the ordeal was still ongoing, and although the allegations had not been debunked yet, Ray regained Sean as a friend. Ray and Sean have been friends since October or November 2010. With the help of Ray's parents, who had a meeting at school, Ray was finally cleared by August 15, and staff members restored his computer privileges at League School and Rock Street.
** On July 22, 2011, the temperature in Boston reached 100 degrees F. That evening, the family went camping. Ray went with his parents and his 11-year-old brother, Bryan. July 22nd is also historically significant as it was the day of the 2011 Norway attacks, a pair of domestic terrorist attacks which left 77 people dead and 320 people injured.
** On July 22, 2011, at 3:00 a.m. EDT (07:00 UTC), the official music video for Pitbull's "Rain Over Me" premiered on YouTube and Vevo. By July 31, the video had over 20 million views, achieving this in only nine days. (This is a capture for "Little Bad Girl", but "Rain Over Me" is visible on the page as one of the suggested videos).
** On July 29, 2011, Ray took the bus home for the second weekend of his ordeal. At 3:50 p.m. Eastern Time (19:50 UTC), Dad took Ray and Bryan to a playground, and Ray told Dad about the "situation" at school, which had now entered its eleventh day. Actually, the punishment applied only at school, not at home, so although the ordeal lasted 27 days, Ray was denied Internet access on only 19 of those 27 days. That night, while Dad was away from home to pick up Bryan from a friend's house, Ray was on the computer to look up how many views the music video of Justin Bieber's "Baby" ft. Ludacris had. This video had 594 million views and was the most viewed YouTube video, having held that title for over a year. Ray still wasn't sure whether his punishment applied to his weekend home visits, so he refrained from listening to the song. The next morning, he finally realized that it didn't, so he used the Internet a lot the next day, Saturday 7/30. On the night of July 31, he decided to listen to "When She Loved Me," sung by Jessie in Toy Story 2 as she looks back on the times Emily used to play with her.
