The 2024 October Friday Prayer, Tehran was held in the Imam Khomeini Mosalla with the presence of thousands of people. Khamenei delivered two sermons in Persian and Arabic languages in 40 minutes.[1][2]
The Friday prayer was held a few days after Iran's missile attack on Israel. The last time that Khamenei delivered the Friday prayer sermon was a few days after the killing of Qassem Soleimani in 2020.[3] In his sermon, Khamenei called Hamas' attack on Israel in October 2023 a legitimate action[4] and declared his support for Arab groups in the war with Israel.[5]
background
On Friday morning, October 3, 2024, a ceremony was held in Imam Khomeini's mosque to commemorate Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah in Tehran. Nasrallah was killed in Israeli attacks on southern Lebanon. After this ceremony, Khamenei stood for Friday prayer and delivered two sermons. Friday prayers were held three days after Iran's missile attack on Israel.[6][3] This attack was in response to Israel's recent actions in Lebanon and Palestine and the killing of senior commanders of Iran, Hamas (Ismail Haniyeh), Hezbollah.[7]
Content
In his Friday prayer sermons, Khamenei praised Iran's missile attack in October 2024 and called it a brilliant action.[4] He called Israel a rabid dog of united state.[1][8] Khamenei said that the first issue he wants to raise is the issue of the unity of Islamic countries. From Afghanistan to Yemen and from Iran to Gaza and Lebanon, all Islamic countries must unite against Israel.[1] According to TV state report, Khamenei announced that if necessary, Iran will repeat the October attack again.[4]
