History
<!-- Commented out because image was deleted: -->Wisin and Yandel were both born in Cayey, Puerto Rico where they met. Before beginning their musical career, Yandel worked as a barber while Wisin worked getting his college degree, that was actually his father's job. He used to put the roosters to fight and that was the way he could earn just the right amount of money for eating and try to do something regarding to music, with his friend Yandel. However, both shared the same musical interests.

In 1998, they worked with DJ Dicky in his production No Fear 3. The next year, they were signed to the Fresh Production label, appearing in La Misión, Vol. 1 (The Mission, Vol. 1). The albums reached gold status, and the label produced the duo's first album in 2000 titled Los Reyes del Nuevo Milenio (The Kings of the New Millennium).

From then on, they've released four albums together, while making appearances in the Misión compilations. All of the albums have reached gold status. They also won a Tu Musica Award for "Best Rap & Reggaeton Duo".[1]

In 2004, each of the members of the duo decided to release a solo effort each. Wisin released his album titled El Sobreviviente (The Survivor) while Yandel released his effort titled Quien Contra Mí (Who's Against Me). Both efforts did well on sales, but the duo returned together to release Pa'l Mundo (For The World) on 2005. Both solo albums are now considered to be reggaeton collector items .

That same year, the duo established their own record label, WY Records. In 2006, they released a compilation album titled Wisin y Yandel Presentan: Los Vaqueros featuring nearly all artists from the WY Records label including Tony Dize, Jayko, Gadiel (Yandel's brother), El Tío, and Franco "El Gorila". The album proved to be a huge success, so much that in 2007 a complete remix album entitled Los Vaqueros: Wild Wild Mixes was released featuring several remixes to songs on Los Vaqueros with many guest stars not formerly associated with Wisin y Yandel. These artists include Don Omar on "La Pared" and "Nadie Como Tú", Elephant Man on "Pegao (Remix)", Franco "El Gorila" on "Dame Un Kiss (Remix)", Ken-Y on "Quizás (Remix)" which is now one of their top hits in Spain and Luis Fonsi on "Yo Te Quiero (Remix)". El Tío, who was featured on the first Los Vaqueros album, does not appear on this the mix album as he was no longer a member of WY Records at this time. Instead, a new member, Jayko, sings in several songs on the album.

Their new music video Ahora Es is now out.

Wisin & Yandel (also known as Los Extraterrestres, El Dúo de la Historia or El Dúo Dinámico!) are a Latin Grammy-nominated Puerto Rican reggaeton duo. They started their career together in 1995 and have been together since winning several awards during that time. Yandel was born Llandel Veguilla Malavé Salazar on January 14, 1979 & Wisin was born Juan Luis Morera Luna on December 19, 1978.

Their hits include "Mayor Que Yo", "Noche de Sexo" (featuring Anthony "Romeo" Santos of bachata group Aventura), "Rakata", "Llamé Pa' Verte (Bailando Sexy)", "Pam Pam", "Pegao", "Yo Te Quiero", and "Sexy Movimiento". Wisin Y Yandel are the most successful Reggaeton duo in the genre, due to their awards, nominations and sales of albums. They are ranked among Reggaeton artists Daddy Yankee, Don Omar, Ivy Queen and Tego Calderon.

They have sold over 35 millions albums not counting their new album Los Extraterrestres.

History

Wisin and Yandel were both born in Cayey, Puerto Rico where they met.

Both solo albums are now considered to be reggaeton collector items [citation needed].
