The Getaway Plan

The Getaway Plan are an Australian Alternative rock band. Since forming in November 2004, they have toured nationally with Taking Back Sunday and The Used and supported a number of other bands, including Unwritten Law, Alkaline Trio, Eighteen Visions, Silverstein, Strike Anywhere, Anberlin, Bodyjar, Antiskeptic, I Killed The Prom Queen, Millencolin and My Chemical Romance.

The group combines pop melodies and 'screamo' rock in a blend described as "a case of Thrice meets Jeff Buckley meets Underoath". In 2006, the band signed with Boomtown Records and released an EP, Hold Conversation.

Tracks from the EP have received airplay on Australian national youth radio station Triple J, including medium rotation for the track "If The Suspense Doesn't Kill Us, Something Else Will..."

The band traveled to Florida to record their debut album titled 'Other Voices, Other Rooms'. The first single 'Streetlight' surfaced on November 3, 2007.

'Other Voices, Other Rooms' debuted at #14 on the National ARIA Charts, #3 on the Australian ARIA Charts and #1 on the AIR Charts (Both 100% Indie and 100% Label Charts).

Second Week of Release, 'Other Voices, Other Rooms' held #31 on the National ARIA Charts, #7 on the Australian ARIA Charts, #3 on the AIR charts for 100% Indie and #4 on the AIR Charts for 100% Indie Labels, while the first single 'Streetlight' still holds #20 on the AIR singles chart for 100% Indie Labels.

The second single from the album 'Where The City Meets The Sea' is released in Australia on March 15th via Boomtown Records / Shock Records.

Early days

Most of the band members met at Sandringham Secondary College and took VCE music subjects together. Some of the bands they have previously been in have included Conked Out, Jebuz, She Spits Macabre and Thirtyfivehours.
