Dr. Jeffrey A. Klein, a dermatologist from Southern California, is the innovator behind the Tumescent Technique for liposuction. He has been featured in CNN's 20/20 and Larry King Live. The creation of this technique had widespread impact among the surgical community, most notably among plastic surgeons, as it allowed patients to remain awake, eliminating the inherent risk of general anesthesia, reducing the amount of blood loss and scarring previously associated with liposuction. He is the author of Tumescent Technique: Tumescent Anesthesia & Microcannular Liposuction, a text in liposuction safety and effectiveness.
Dr. Klein continues to carrying out research in the development of the Tumescent Technique, finding new ways to further the safety and wellbeing of patients undergoing any of several medical applications, ranging from vein surgery, to liposuction, veterinary medicine, and post operative care[1].
