Gerasimus of Jordan (Abba Gerasimus, Holy Righteous Father Gerasimus of Jordan—also spelled Gerasimos or Gerasim) - a Christian saint, monk and abbot of the 5th century A.D. Born in the province of Lycia in Cappadocia,[1] the southern part of Asia Minor into a wealthy family.[2]

Gerasimus left the family wealth and worldly affairs to become a monk. He departed for the the region Thebaid near the desert of Egypt, later again returned to his native Lycia.
